Colorado Senate passes bill favoring popular vote over Electoral College

The concept of popular votes within a State determining the electors, while done by all States, isn't required.

I have been living in Texas all my life (67 years) and at no time, either in public school or through local news have I ever been asked to vote for an electoral college member or even told who/what they are. This still remains a secret to most of our Texas voters and my bet is this holds true for other states as well.

There is a small cul-de-sac with 5 houses and it's controlled by a neighborhood association. When changes will be made that affect everyone, there is a vote by the residents. The rule is that each of 4 houses get one vote but the 5th house is larger and can accommodate more people so that house gets 2 votes. However, the people in the larger house decided to cram 3 families in there so they outnumber all the other residents combined. The people in the 5th house want to ban pets, holiday decorations and want all the houses painted orange. As it is now, they get 2 votes, which is more than the others but everyone else still has a voice. If they switched to a simply popular vote with each person having a say, the one house would forever dictate how the others lived.

The majority can be an ass. California allows illegal aliens to vote and they also get counted in the census so also give them more electoral votes. They cheat every way possible as it is. If they switch to popular, our entire nation can be controlled by the votes of people who aren't even U.S. citizens. There are millions of illegal aliens in California, more than enough to sway any election. And they will vote for those who promised them more tax payer money.

This is what the Democrats want.

The Dems have gone so far left at this point that we are looking at a socialist one world government and countries will no longer have borders or sovereignty. Merkel has said as much and she is the same as many of the radicals here. Our constitution guarantees our rights and the government is supposed to have very limited powers. The left has whined for decades about the fact that our constitution limits them and stops their agenda. They want it gone and all our freedom and liberty goes with in. The useful idiots like the idea of government taking care of them and bringing down all the wealthy people to their level. This remains a secret to most of our Texas voters and my bet is; this holds true for other states as well.

Weird 'logic' at work here. If those people don['t who their electors are , and think its some big giant secret n stuff, they shouldn't be allowed to vote in the first place, since they aren't doing their duty as citizens by learning what the hell it is they're voting for. They're idiots.

Bring back literacy and civics tests; they're not hard nor will they discriminate against anybody who aren't lazy dumbasses who don't really care about the political process in the first place. That will weed out half the problem all by itself.

It's very rate these days and I do know it. Out of more than 4 million, there might be 3 or 4 individual cases. I doubt that has enough to sway any election of any type or kind one way or another. If it's higher than that then I suggest you start out by replacing your State Government as quickly as possible with recalls. Since this is also not happening, then......

Though, I think it's more disturbing than humorous that the Colorodo Senate doesn't understand this. There's a humorous line a lot of people use about wanting to make the electorate take a civics test before voting, this is unconstitutional, of course, but one might wonder if a civics test might be in order for those of us running for higher office. Particularly given the oath they take to protect and defend the Constitution. I wonder sometimes if they've even read the thing.

You can't make this stuff up. Ha.
