CNBC: Joe Biden Addresses the Nation on Infrastructure Plans for the Democratic Party

He wants to spent $2 trillion dollars to modernize America. He says the windows are too porous, the roofing is too old, the streets are too rickety, and the nation must help.

What's another 2 trillion ?

He's already gotten that through once.

We all know we need to update our infra structure.

Moscow Mitch even admits it. He just doesn't want to PAY for it if it means raising taxes on rich people or corporations...who are his REAL constituents

Less than a quarter of this bill goes to infrastructure. The rest is commie wish list BS.

.

I Googled and Liberal Chicago has done nothing to replace their lead pipes.
Bad Liberals.
Well, it's a bad liberal who wants to correct it, too.
You mean a Bullshitting Liberal.
Liberals have been promising pipe replacement for years.
Let's see what happens, if he gets this plan through.
Are you that naive?
About the plan going through or the pipes being replaced? What makes you think either of these can't happen?
Because past money has already been siphoned off to other pork.
I think it's a very sensible idea. What previous administrations and Congresses have done doesn't mean this one will fail. That makes no sense. Nothing new would ever happen under your theory.
The only thing that counts is what CHICAGO does with the money and the Chicago DemonCraps always spend it to get the slum vote.
Really? There's nothing specifying what the funds need to be used for? Then maybe the feds need to contract it out themselves.

You've never been involved in federal contracting, have you. Federal strings increase the costs of a project by factors of 2x-4x.

.
Dude, quit being ridiculous. Corporate projects are the same way. Ever heard of "Scope creep"?

OH BOY! Another ignorant commie chimes in. Exactly how many government contracts have you been involved in?

.

Not many.

Private companies don't have unlimited contingencies for stupid.

Scope creep isn't an inefficiency or a quality issue.

Bridges falling....that isn't scope creep.....that is just stupid.

Don't know why you're quoting me and making that comment, I haven't mentioned "scope creep", that was brought up by another kind of creep.

.

My mistake.

Yes, this was intended for the french fry.

EDIT: Yes, he has a stutter. We all know this...so please go light on mocking his stutter

There is what, 5% of this bill that actually goes to “infrastructure”. You’re not kidding anyone, it’s more socialist garbage.

There is what, 5% of this bill that actually goes to “infrastructure”. You’re not kidding anyone, it’s more socialist garbage.

Broadband everywhere: The plan includes a $100 billion investment to “bring affordable, reliable, high-speed broadband to every American.”

Pouring gasoline on the fire: Fixing broadband and other infrastructure will require even more chips, at a moment when the semiconductor industry simply can’t keep up with demand. Some auto makers have suspended production due to lack of parts, and PC makers are supply-constrained. There is one offset: The proposal reiterates the White House’s support for the Chips Act, which includes $50 billion for semiconductor manufacturing and research.

Powering up: The White House has proposed a $174 billion investment in the electric vehicle market, including a national network of 500,000 chargers by 2030. (There are, by contrast, more than 150,000 U.S. gas stations.) Investors jumped on the EV charging companies last week

Taking on Goliath: The White House proposal includes a dig at the telecom and cable carriers, which provide most of the nation’s broadband connections. The bill wants to “reduce internet prices for all Americans.” One administration proposal is “lifting barriers” that prevent municipally-owned providers and rural electric co-ops from competing with private providers. President Biden wants cheaper rates, and he thinks one way to get there is for city governments to build their own networks.

SpaceX is already going to do “broadband everywhere” with Starlink.

Please show me, where in our Constitution, that the federal government has the authority to interfere in markets like cable.

I find it amazing that people see something that says "he wants". If American was unhappy with it's modernization, the market would reflect that.

The government getting involved in anything outside of it's designated powers has rarely proven to be useful. Usually, it makes somebody rich and screws the rest of us.

5G wireless is spreading broadband nearly everywhere.

Just some more payola for BigTech.

Biden can't address an envelope, never mind the population. He's such a retard.

Duplicate thread. Except mine was merged with another thread about a hour ago....

Biden Just Did a Bush Senior...

This thread is a full discussion and includes the actual speech, not a random link to George Bush talking 30 years ago you weirdo.

The thread was tacked onto the one about George Bush. The title was "Is anyone watching Joe Biden's speech about infrastructure?"

I included a link to a story about his "upcoming speech" but not a link to the actual speech itself. After all, who the hell really wants to watch that blabbering fool?

People who wish to be lulled to sleep.

Apparently they love being lied to as well. And being another $2 trillion in debt with nothing to show for it. We probably won't even get another $2k of Biden Bucks out of the deal. That money goes pretty fast, thanks to the inflation Joe Biden is causing.

Will you care about the debt when we're all speaking Chinese and bowing to Xi? You know Xi is President for life, right? That means he'll be there in 20 years when China rules us.

We have to rebuild our country and beat China.

I don't know anything about economic matters, but I like the sound of expanding rail service and investing more in R & D., getting rid of lead pipes for municipal water.

What lead pipes?

Congress banned the use of lead pipes in 1986 but allowed those already in the ground to remain. Three decades later, an estimated 15 to 22 million Americans still cook with and drink tap water entering their homes through lead pipes, known as "service lines."

Instead of replacing all the lead service lines, the government has attempted to monitor and limit lead contamination in water, principally through the EPA's Lead and Copper Rule.

How the EPA has left Americans exposed to lead in drinking water

I’d like to know where the active lead pipes are located.
The biggest problem with pipe water is the iron which is flushed out every few months
I’ve read recently that in some parts of the US people have water that involves old, hollowed logs. Whoa! Now that’s time for an update.

My local water company flushes frequently, but it’s still a good idea to run hot water for a while,in case there’s a bit of buildup, before consumption.

My local water, like many municipalities, is below healthy standards. The county doesn’t even have to legally report their info publicly online which is BS. I can smell the “bleach” when I run regular tap water, early a.m. mostly, used to reduce contaminants. Lovely.

There is what, 5% of this bill that actually goes to “infrastructure”. You’re not kidding anyone, it’s more socialist garbage.

I find it amazing that people see something that says "he wants". If American was unhappy with it's modernization, the market would reflect that.

The government getting involved in anything outside of it's designated powers has rarely proven to be useful. Usually, it makes somebody rich and screws the rest of us.

Speaking of making rich, I just had an idea that would make Jeff Bezos the richest man in the world. What say we destroy small business by telling them they cannot operate, order the populace at large to stay home and not go anywhere, and then give them all 1400 dollars to spend from the comfort of their own living room?

oh. damn. Looks like I am too late with my brilliant plan. It seems that the political party that selected a senile old man as its figurehead already did that......
