The loony libertarians says this is all about revenue and that's fine with me. I like seeing criminals pay, esp killers. I say increase the fines 10-fold.

Local governments using new mobile speed cameras that resemble mailboxes - mobile - 12160

WASHINGTON - Most people don't notice a mobile speed camera until they see a flash in the rearview mirror and realize they've been caught.

Local governments are availing themselves of new mobile speed cameras that resemble mailboxes as effective and profitable ways to slow drivers down.

Prince George's County has quadrupled its supply of speed cameras over the past year, The Examiner reports.

Prince George's County expects to bring in $8 million in 2012, with a whopping $28 million in 2013

Speed is not relavent.

If everyone would drive at 110 mph, it would be far safer than having half of them drive 65 and half of them drive 25.

I say we shoot all the slow drivers. It would weed the morons out of the herd.

I oppose speed cameras. If you did a little research you'd see that the Speed Camera and Red Light Camera systems are used as "revenue generators" by cities who care not a whit about safety. It's rife with Corruption and Kickbacks from the manufacturers too.

Tell us SS, how is the community made safer by extracting an X amount of money from you for committing an offense that you won't even remember doing until the ticket shows up in the mail days later?

What a silly thing to say. You get hit with a $1000 fine for doing 50 in a 30, you will be inclined to slow down in the future. You would be even more inclined if we tacked on a 3 month license suspension.

Why are you a criminal coddler.?

ShootSpeeders, if someone is going 61 kmph in a 60kmph zone, how are they 'deadly'? Its not like they are going to kill anyone. It is perfectly okay to go slightly over the speed limit, but when you are in excess of 10kmph over, then you should be fined.

And I disagree with speed cameras, because all they do is raise money, and do nothing to lower the deaths each year on our roads. Also, whenever we see a speed trap, we warn motorists by flashing our headlights at them. So you can see that speed camera do jack shit to prevent speeders.

You just contradicted yourself.

Personally, I think we should shoot drivers with a cellphone in one hand and a Big Mac in the other...
