“There is only one group to blame for the continued suffering of these innocent victims: the House majority and their speaker, John Boehner,” he said. “This is not a Republican or Democratic issue. Natural disasters happen in red states and blue states and states with Democratic governors and Republican governors. We respond to innocent victims of natural disasters, not as Republicans or Democrats, but as Americans. Or at least we did until last night. Last night, politics was placed before oaths to serve our citizens. For me, it was disappointing and disgusting to watch.”

House Republicans declined to schedule a vote for Sandy aid Tuesday night, after voting to pass a fiscal cliff deal. If the House does not pass a disaster relief bill before noon on Thursday, when the new session of Congress begins, lawmakers will have to start over

Bottom line, it appears now that Decatur Utilities wrongly assumed they would have to agree to the union contract before traveling to New Jersey to help with recovery efforts. The IBEW said in times of crisis, help is welcomed from union and non-union utility workers.


New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s office trumpeted the same idea saying that the incident was caused by "likely confusion about needing the crew at that particular location" and had "nothing to do with being union or non-union workers."

A representative for the two utility companies also said the original story was untrue, according to the Huntsville Times.

The bill's loaded with non-NJ/ NY relief pork that was slipped in because the Washington scum thought it would sail through congress untouched.

Strip out the bullshit spending and then pass it. What's another few days? It's already 1/3/13, two months after Sandy. All of a sudden the relief money is a big deal now, but why wasn't it 30-45 days or more ago?
