WASHINGTON — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) lit into House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and House Republicans Wednesday for not holding a vote on a Hurricane Sandy relief bill.

“There is only one group to blame for the continued suffering of these innocent victims: the House majority and their speaker, John Boehner,” he said. “This is not a Republican or Democratic issue. Natural disasters happen in red states and blue states and states with Democratic governors and Republican governors. We respond to innocent victims of natural disasters, not as Republicans or Democrats, but as Americans. Or at least we did until last night. Last night, politics was placed before oaths to serve our citizens. For me, it was disappointing and disgusting to watch.”

House Republicans declined to schedule a vote for Sandy aid Tuesday night, after voting to pass a fiscal cliff deal. If the House does not pass a disaster relief bill before noon on Thursday, when the new session of Congress begins, lawmakers will have to start over

I disagree to some extent. I believe the man has seen people in his state suffer. He's doing what he thinks is right for his people. That said, I believe that Boehner is right to not do a hasty vote on it. Especially since it's laden with pork that has nothing to do with Sandy relief. Christie is speaking from emotion and I can't say that I blame him.

I don't like Christie any more than you do but I think he's a lot smarter than you're giving him credit for. I believe he knew exactly what he was doing when he hitched his wagon to Obama. And his badmouthing Boehner for turning his back on the hurricane victims is another slick move.

While Christie might look like a traitor to Republicans who have been busily digging their party's grave for some time now, to the people of New Jersey, and to much of the Nation, he's transcended politics and connected at the human level by detaching himself from what is widely perceived as spiteful cruelty.

The chickens are coming home to roost, Christie knows it, and he is the big fat fox who will be sitting in the coop when they arrive.

The right wingers truly believe the reason they lost this last election is because they didn't run more people like Todd Akin and Richard Murdock. It's fucking hilarious.

If New Jersey actually got the money, the vote might be different, but most of the money was pork-marked for other things.

The pork-barrel feast includes more than $8 million to buy cars and equipment for the Homeland Security and Justice departments. It also includes a whopping $150 million for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to dole out to fisheries in Alaska and $2 million for the Smithsonian Institution to repair museum roofs in DC.

An eye-popping $13 billion would go to “mitigation” projects to prepare for future storms.

Other big-ticket items in the bill include $207 million for the VA Manhattan Medical Center; $41 million to fix up eight military bases along the storm’s path, including Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; $4 million for repairs at Kennedy Space Center in Florida; $3.3 million for the Plum Island Animal Disease Center and $1.1 million to repair national cemeteries.

He claimed if he was allowed to screw all his state and public workers including those already RETIRED the budget would balance and there would be surplus, property taxs would go down and unemployment would go down.
Lets not forget christies claim to fame here...he was appointed a special prosecutor by bush to go after NJ politicians isnt it cute that he mostly caught just all democrats...there was a token republican or two...

Facts: Property taxs have gone up and going up again since hes been Gov and screwed public workers.
Fact: Unemployment is higher in NJ than it was when he became gov even though the rest of the country went down.
Fact: After he screwed public employees his budget is 500 million in the hole and rising.
Fact: He promised if he got to screw public workers, he would at least make a 500million payment into their pension fund a PARTIAL of what the state owes the pension and never paid.

Christie is up for re election after running around the entire country while NJ stagnated trying to get his obese ass in the national spotlight and ranting on and on about how great romney was. Then his numbers started to fail as he was heading for re election. So he throws romney under the bus and then uses Sandy to make himself look good and make people ignore his dismal performance record.
Christie was a Gop partisan hack from the day he got into office spouting all the teaparty talking points...and now your going to tell me he suddenly has an epiphany and is not really a conservative conservative but a compassionate conservative mainstream kinda guy...Hes full of CHIT and a total fraud.
