America used to do stuff like this. Now all our infrastructure money goes to freebies for obozo's precious illegal aliens. It would take us 43 months to build this bridge.

Caught On Tape: China Builds A Bridge In Just 43 Hours | Zero Hedge

nov 26 2015 When you have a billion people willing to work instead of expecting free "stuff", anything's possible... Earlier this year, a Chinese construction company had erected a 57-story skyscraper in just 19 days. This time the Chinese have built an overpass in mere 43 hours!

Workers took apart the old structure of Beijing's Sanyuan Bridge in a few hours. Then they brought an entire piece of concrete to bridge the gap and paved it over, reports Citylab.com.

To build the bridge, over 1300 tonnes of new surfacing material was used which save months of commotion and traffic woes. For the first time the Chinese workers tried out a new 'integrated replacement method.'

It would seem prudent that when building bridges speed is not the most important factor.

So what?...

... ya can put a pontoon bridge up in a couple of hours...

... the Army Corps of Engineers does it all the time...

... that can even support tanks.

If you don't care a gust of wind can knock it down, you can build things incredibly fast.

There are Roman built roads and brigdes still in use. Ours last a few years. Why? Government corruption.

It's a retrofit............still impressive, but they were working on this long before the installation..............

They replaced too spans...........pre-built and pre-engineered.....................but it took a lot longer than 43 hours to build...........

Still...........pretty good though.

"Construction of the Banqiao dam began in April 1951 on the Ru River with the help of Soviet consultants as part of a project to control flooding and electrical power generation. The construction was a response to severe flooding in the Huai River Basin in 1949 and 1950.[2] The dam was completed in June 1952."

Pretty fast for a big ol' dam. Of course, that haste resulted in a dam failure killing 170-230k people.

"By the end of 1986, the rebuilding project commenced. On June 5, 1993, the project was certified by the Chinese government."

Next time around they actually made it well taking about 6 times as long.

Good example of big centralized government causing terrible death and destruction...one example among millions. Yet, leftists love big gov...proving them ignorant or sick in the head.

They love big rules, regulations, and standards books. Not necessarily big government.

I live on the first floor of a 3-story apartment building. I assure you, I would not have moved in if the building had been built 'in record time.' :)

No difference.

This is what fucks me up about this country.....every effin year, every year, the same pot holes emerge after the winter snows.....the same location, the same depth, the same everything on the same streets and biways.....meanwhile in Africa, there are pyramids made by the ancients that have stood for centuries, and these people had no where near the technology we have today.....now either the country is hell fire bent on keeping union workers working, ie city workers or we're just too damn dumb to come up with shit that can last past a winter snow.

Everything about this country is done on the cheap, everything....except financing wars and hold bullshit committee hearings attacking democrats
