Charter schools and hedge funds.

An article about the tax breaks given for investing in charters schools.
One of the reasons charters are growing. Follow the money.

Why hedge funds love charter schools
"The Charter management group Charter Schools USA recommends that rental costs should not exceed 20 percent of a school’s budget.

"However the Miami Herald reported that in 2011, 19 charter schools in Miami-Dade and Broward exceeded this figure and one in Miami Gardens paid 43 percent.

"The Herald called south Florida charter schools a '$400-million-a-year powerhouse backed by real-estate developers and promoted by politicians, but with little oversight.'

"Its report found charters paying exorbitant fees to management companies and that many of the highest rents were paid to landlords with ties to the management companies running the schools."

Follow the money:eek:

Damned if they do and damned if they don't. The only question should be is do the children get a better quality education in charter schools? The vast majority of the time the answer is yes. Ever heard the old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"?

I guess the keyword is "education."
In my local area, the verdict on the charters' quality of education is still out.
But it's definitely a money maker:D
