If thousands of years of debt workouts are any indication, the money takes over, those with the gold make the rules. Debt always resolves itself, either voluntarily before a crisis or by force after a crisis. And how do people are nations get out of debt - by living right; working harder and consuming less. By acting like Puritans and not like Greeks or Democrats.

The system works. People and nations live righteously and prosper or they live like Greeks and are brought to their knees when the adults retake control.

I would cut military spending by half... that would leave a nice surplus.

Disabuse yourself of the idea that we are there to defend anyone. The Mideast nations are marks on a map drawn by European colonialists who didn't know or didn't care about the different groups living there who hate each other and shouldn't be stuffed into the same nation.

We don't need that oil. The profits of some economic elites do.

I've never heard a reason for us being there that isn't based on BS.

Without that oil the U.S. would move toward alternative forms of energy. This is something we will never do
unless forced to. But this is something we must do. We will not do it unless pushed into it by circumstances that over ride the influence of petro biz lobbyists.
