Can you find the "apology"?

Here ya go:

"The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims – as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions. Today, the 11th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, Americans are honoring our patriots and those who serve our nation as the fitting response to the enemies of democracy. Respect for religious beliefs is a cornerstone of American democracy. We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others.""

That is the statement made by the embassy. Their backs were against the wall and all they asked was that we abide by our own Constitution. Post the exact Obama quote.

Here's the link again and it works fine for me.

Post the EXACT words Obama said.

You can't because it never happened.

And, BTW, to review ... Our Constitution GUARANTEES exactly what the embassy was asking for. WHY do you rw's support Mittens' being against our Constitution? You all have little hissy fits when we question his cult and you demand that his cult's plans for the US not be questioned but you won't give that same religious freedom to anyone else.

Those people were fighting for their lives and they had every right to ask for the support of their own country. Instead, empty suit Romney exacerbated the situation with his idiot play for the cheap seats.

Now Romney is saying the WH agrees with him. What? Like we're supposed to believe that he accidentally dropped his dog whistle and it went off?

You rw's are being led around by your nose. The fundies own you because you are unable to think for yourselves. Fundies in the US and the fundies around the world. They say jump and you ask how high.

PolitiFact | Did the U.S. embassy in Cairo make an apology?

Can anyone find the apology Mittens accused the president of making?

I've read the statement made by the embassy and cannot find the "apology" Mittens said the president made.

If Mittens can't even get this right, imagine what a disaster he would be as president. Just as it is now, Mittens would be the cause of one international incident after another. The very big difference would be that he wouldn't be just a harmless fool following his wife's horse around the world, insulting one country after another.

We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others."

Looks like an apology to me...

What fracking wall? They released the statement hours before there were any protestors around the embassy, and had more than enough time to completely evacuate without incident.

So they should a cut and run and left the embassy to be overrun? This isn't Reagan in Beirut.

No, there was no ‘apology,’ it’s yet another tedious, inane rightist contrivance – a classic example of conservatives shooting before taking aim.

WASHINGTON -- Ten Republican House members, led by Rep. Steve Scalise, R-Jefferson, are following the lead of GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney in criticizing a statement from the U.S. Embassy in Cairo apologizing for a film that mocked the Muslim religion.
"The apology made by the Cairo embassy personnel on Sept. 11th is intolerable and sets bad precedent for how we as a nation represent ourselves abroad, especially in hostile regions such as these," said the letter sent Friday to President Barack Obama.

"In the wake of the recent attacks on U.S. embassies in Egypt, Libya and throughout the Middle East, we urge you to take swift action to ensure the safety and well-being of U.S. diplomatic personnel while also ensuring that those responsible for these attacks are held accountable and swiftly brought to justice."

The letter refers to a message sent by embassy officials in Cairo before the initial attack on the embassy. It condemned "the continued efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims -- as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions."
Among those signing the letter were Reps. Jeff Landry, R-New Iberia, John Fleming, R-Minden and Bill Cassidy, R-Baton Rouge.

Romney, on the night of the first attacks on the U.S. embassy, also criticized President Obama for the embassy statement, calling it a disgrace.

Dig? Why? The text is all over the internet. It goes to show how clueless the right-wing gaggle is on USMB. Their fellow Republicans are bashing Romney for his false narrative on the Libyan embassy issue. The difference is that Republicans bashing Romney are experts in foreign policy and politics and the USMB republicans are idiots.

The letter is meaningless and won't save Romney from losing this election.

During a CBS interview last night President Obama distanced himself from the “apology” issued by the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, suggesting that it was merely an effort by the staff to “cool the situation down.”

“It didn’t come from me. It didn’t come from Secretary Clinton,” Obama said. “It came from folks on the ground who are potentially in danger. And my tendency is to cut those folks a little bit of slack when they’re in that circumstance rather than try to question their judgment from the comfort of a campaign office.”

“The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims – as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions,” the embassy said in a statement in reaction to the attack.

Obama:

I know it's hard, but try to keep up with the talking points. You are embarrassing yourselves.

:eusa_whistle: Running low on beer?

As long as the president isn't playing dress up and prancing around in a uniform he has no right to wear, an apology is GREAT. SAVING LIVES should come before photo ops; the CONs cannot accept the fact our soldiers are REAL humans, they comprehend only the war movies and "action heroes" they exist on. Video wars for video lives. Sad.

Why in the world is the embassy staff issuing an apology for a film that
the United States had no part in and for the most part no one even saw?...
Did the State Department look at that statement and OK it?
Many questions need to be answered at some point.

For the WH Press Secretary to say that these protests are NOT being directed at the United States is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard any one in that position utter.I never thought I would miss Robert Gibbs.
