Zone1 Can we get videos like this to show up like youtube/rumble links? (DailyMail)

Hi, USMB overlords and keyboard warriors.

Can we get videos like this to show a preview and play in the post like youtube and rumble links?

I post lots of videos from The DailMail, and it would be nice if they would show more than a link.

If I am doing it wrong, please advise and I will reward you immensely. If you implement this idea because of my request, I will reward you double immensely.

Thanks,
Jim
Honestly? I wish we could.

I am not a techie, so I have no idea how to do this. And. . . I am not entirely certain we would want to, if we could. I have pondered that reason we have a time limit for the mp4's that users can upload. Is it to conserve forum hosting space, or to potentially limit, libelous or illegal content? meh, I can't really say, I am not in a position to.

I have seen a lot of mp4's, from all over, hosted everywhere, that I have often myself, wanted to embed, but no, we can't.

I think, part of the reason, is to lighten the load for admin & moderation.

See. . . anything, potentially, could be hosted anywhere, on any mp4 hosting site. Even, illegal content that I believe the site's advertisers would not want to be associated with.

Sites like archive video.org, Rumble, even bit-chute, like YouTube, have certain liabilities they have to abide by, by law, as public entities. No porn, no copyright infringements, no radical groups inciting violence, etc.

As a public forum, the moderation depends on users to make reports when they see and read such things in print, or as photos and memes. Yet? With video content, this is more difficult, since it is not always a given that any users are going to audit videos that are posted. We have no idea what is really going on in that regard. Thus, certain platforms are sort of, a. . . filter if you will.

This is my best guess on this issue.

Does this make sense? :dunno:
