Can This Be What Women Want?

... Yet I didn't abort them.

Um ... k?

Yeah ... I don't see your point. Dave said preventing pregnancy is easy, I pointed out that apparently 50% of people find it not all that easy, and then you started talking about how you didn't abort your children.

How do you know they don't find it easy? I expect many people are just being selfish and not thinking.

Why should I have to pay for anyone else's failure to plan and think?

What specifically do you object to paying for that their lack of planning caused?

The best way to stop abortion is to prevent unplanned pregnancies. The fact that 50% of our population fails at that every year, says we could stand to improve in that area.

It really is simple.

If you don't want to get pregnant:

1. Don't have sex (this method is 100% guaranteed).

2. Use a barrier contraceptive and/or spermicide (condoms are best for preventing STDs, outside of abstinence, of course. When in doubt about your partner's past, use TWO condoms).

3. Use oral contraceptives.

What's so hard?

Oh no it's as easy for the 50% that have unplanned pregnancies. They simply don't care. It's not worth the effort. They have to go to a doctor or clinic, then they have to get the pill from a pharmacist. Then they have to remember to take the damn thing. That's hard work and they shouldn't have to work that hard. Condoms are worse, they have to stop right before fucking and physically put it on. That's real difficult.

IUD, implant, whatever it is, takes effort. To a people who believe themselves to lack the initiative of a plot of grass they can take their chances and when they lose get a free abortion. Or, free STD treatment.

I'm not aware of free abortions being offered. The STD treatment is done but it is in no way free for the State to fund them. As any clinician will tell you, preventative care is much less expensive and much more effective than acute care. Why conservatives cannot see this paradigm is something I think historians will ponder for generations--that it makes great economic sense to spend a little now instead of spending a lot later on.

If I'm paying for sex, I'd like to enjoy it.

Seriously, underwriting other people's carelessness is not my responsibility.

WTF?!! I listed three ways to help prevent unplanned pregnancy.

Or does it not count if it holds people responsible for their actions and the consequences of those actions are not paid for by the government with tax dollars?

We have a problem with unplanned pregnancies in this country. Clearly telling people to stop having sex or to use protection is not a working solution.

This isn't about "childbearing", it's about the ability to control what happens to your own body.

I'm sorry you just don't see this.
Birth control for convenience.

Most of us know what it really is.

Amuses Me that leftist women always stand proud at being 'independent women'....

Until it comes to birth control. Then the white Catholic Bishops MUST pay for it.

Abortion on demand, so I can remain unencumbered with the responsibility of a child.

It may be legal, but is sure isn't right. And it has never been about what a woman can do with her body. Because no one is allowed to use their body to end the life of another.

So people are nothing more than rutting animals who should be shielded from the consequences of their actions.

How about a dose of responsibility?

Caveman is out there telling women what to do with their lady-parts. It would be hilarious if it weren't so sad.
So, I have to finance people's lack of planning and their poor decisions, but I don't get a say in it?

Screw that. You want my money, you're going to get my advice, too. And that advice is "Don't do anything you can't afford the consequences of."

It's astounding how many people utterly loath that idea. Why do you insist people not take responsibility for their actions?

You know what, guy, you are the one who gets up here and bitches about "generational welfare" and then you bitch when the women either try to not get pregnant or get rid of pregnancies they don't want?

Seriously?

And the "it's my money" argument doesn't fly. The government does a whole lot of things I don't like, that I don't get much of a say in.

How about this. We actually vote on which programs we want to fund. We put in a new schedule on the tax form listing which programs you want your money to go to.

Betcha we get enough money for reproductive health care LONG before we get enough for "Tax Breaks for rich assholes".

I've shown how easy it is to not get pregnant if you don't want to. Stop making excuses for people who made bad decisions.

But then, you wouldn't be a leftist if you held people accountable for their actions, would you?

Ahh, direct democracy: Two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.

Face it, boy: Liberalism is simply unsustainable. Look at Europe. It's circling the bowl, and you want to emulate their failed economic policies.

Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to vote Democrat.

Ummm, Europe has been around for thousands of years. I think it's doing okay...

The entire industrialized world is in the same boat. US, Europe Japan... because industry is shifting from the First World to the Third World...

To go ahead and say, "You have a problem because you have more socialism or more capitalism" is kind of lame and weak.

Corporatism is unsustainable...

You whine about "socialism", but the fact is, in the attempt to crush the working class, you are just making more people wards of the government.

And they are going to totally vote for more of that shit.

Want to get less government... less Dressage Horses, more working class jobs that pay well.
