Can Scott Brown Win in Massachusetts?

Scott Brown picked up the Boston Herald endorsement today, as well as the Mass, State Police Union endorsement.

WOW - this story is turning into something truly remarkable.

Herald: Scott Brown for U.S. Senate

Massachusetts voters have to ask themselves a serious question before they head to the polls next week: Are they content with the current state of affairs in Washington?

If you love what’s going on in Washington, well, then by all means vote for Martha Coakley. She’s a perfectly nice person, and she won’t make a dime’s worth of difference in the balance of power in Washington.

But if you’re not happy with the status quo, if you think the way business is being conducted on Capitol Hill today is a disgrace and an affront to taxpayers, then you probably agree it’s time for a change.

Throughout this campaign Brown has been underrated - and often overlooked, even by his chief opponent. But he’s savvy and committed and he’s desperately needed in Washington. The voters of Massachusetts can put him there.

Some Massachusetts voter feedback on the Scott Brown campaign...

I was a Democrat for 39 years. Watching the once great and representative Democratic Party turn into a socialist's paradise under the guidance of Ted Kennedy, John Kerry and Deval Patrick (none of whom I voted for) I recently joined the "Un-Enrolled." I will be voting for Scott Brown. He is the best candidate. Don't forget, most Democrats rejected the angry socialist Mike Capuano who compared himself as a "mirror image" Ted Kennedy. Only in mASSachusetts, can a hard working, self-made man with a loving, working wife and two well adjusted daughters, be criticized as one who will set the country back a century! Crazy thoughts go through some folk's heads. GOOD LUCK SCOTT BROWN!

Dayum...

This was supposed to be a slam dunk for this seat....

'll win, but I'm going to be laughing a lot if he does....

I agree--I just can't give the citizens of Mass. that much credit for having brains.

What they have given us--is two very liberal senators whose names end in a K for decades--& have cemented them into their senate seats for life--kind of the like the U.S. supremes--regardless of what they vote for.

Believe me--I would like to see real change in Mass.--but I am not going to bet one single penny on the political ideology of anyone living in Mass. Heck--they're more than likely going to re-elect Barney Franks--LOL.

Next Wednesday there will be some very unhappy people on this board. I don't know who they will be yet, but I hope I will be on the side crowing rather than eating crow. But you never know.

If you're a registered voter in Massachusetts, your friendly Democratic Senate candidate, Martha Coakley, is sticking her thumb in your eye.

Coakley, in exquisitely diva-like form, is refusing all invitations to debate her Republican opponent in the race, Scott Brown, unless a third-party candidate with no apparent credentials is included on the stage. She may also require a crystal bowl of orange-only M&Ms in her dressing room, but we haven't gotten that far yet. Her demands have led to an astonishing result: there will be just one -- that's one -- live televised debate in the Boston media market this general election season.

Could it be that there are actually conservatives living in Mass? Could it be that they will actually elect someone to the senate whose last name doesn't begin with a K?

I heard?? that Scott Brown is up by 1--but we're talking about a state that when they elect a senator--(democrat) they cement them in their senate seats for "life."-:lol:

So I'll believe it when I see it---:cuckoo::cuckoo:

I was watching the news last night and some polls had him leading and some had him trailing. Never would have thought to see a Rep leading anything in MA. Will have to wait and see what happens.

I have heard him speak and he's a no nonsense kinda guy. Liked what I heard a lot. Mayby presidential material in 2012????

YES!!!!!

Yes, yes, yes, yes YES!

The race is close and let us remember that it's not Ted Kennedy's seat ... it's the people of Massachusett's seat!

"With all due respect, this is not Ted Kennedy's seat - it's the people's seat."

That one line by Scott Brown cut to the core of last night's debate. Will it be an election signifying the same as usual Democrat Party Line politics, or a new era in which voters choose for themselves who best represents the needs of the people.

Scott Brown is the real deal - and he is creating huge momentum heading into the election.

If Brown wins, it truly will be a game-changer on a national scale. It is the single most important event in American politics at this moment...

It’s the people’s seat, and it’s up for grabs

The policy differences between Democrat Martha Coakley and Republican Scott Brown were as clear during last night’s debate as they have been throughout this short special-election campaign.

Coakley supports ObamaCare, opposes the war in Afghanistan, and favors higher taxes on the wealthy. Brown is against the health care legislation, backs the president’s surge in Afghanistan, and wants across-the-board tax cuts à la JFK. Coakley is an EMILY’s List prochoice hard-liner; Brown condemns partial-birth abortion and is backed by Massachusetts Citizens for Life. Coakley has no problem with civilian trials for Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. Brown thinks it reckless to treat enemy combatants like ordinary defendants

...It’s not the ‘Kennedy Seat,’ ’’ Brown has been reminding Coakley lately. “It’s the people’s seat.’’ Amazing thing is, he could be right.

I'm voting for Brown.

But I'll fall off my rocker if he wins.
I'm voting for Coakley. We'll be canceling out each other's votes. If we both agree not to vote, we can save each other having to go to the polling station.

Deal?

I'm voting for brown too, i usually vote the libertarian guy but this time around i'll give the republican a vote, hell it would be super fun on the boards if he actually pulled it off and wins :)

To win he is going to need EVERYTHING to go perfect the next 7 days and he will still need some luck after that.

Yes, that is among the most interesting aspects of the race - in recent weeks lifelong Democrats are signaling they are tired of the liberal status quo and voting for Brown. Remarkable!

From the Boston Globe message boards:

I've donated to Scott Brown's campaign and am calling every family member and friend in MA to vote for him.
The Dem-controlled Congress is entering year #4, yet they're still harping about Bush. The masks fell off though - when they locked the doors while debating health care and bribing Nelson and Landreau. Chicago thuggery should not be allowed to fly in MA. Vote for Scott Brown!
Oh and PLEASE call the police or MA State Troopers if you see ACORN thugs, purple-shirted SEIU bullies, or armed Black Panthers at your polling places? Take photos of them and send them to your newspapers, Drudge and Breitbart!

The Brown campaign now being described as another "shot heard round the world".

If he does in fact win, it would be an apt description...

ALL BROWN VOTERS MUST MAKE IT TO THE POLLS! Fill your car with Brown voters! Call your friends! Raise the dead! (On second thought, forget that last one. We all know the dead vote only for Dems.)

We can defeat Martha Coakley, Harry Reid's rubber stamp, ONLY if absolutely EVERYONE TURNS OUT FOR BROWN.

The entire country is watching us, Massachusetts. They're hoping we'll vote to stop the runaway train that this this Congress's radical agenda.

It's time for another "Shot Heard 'Round the World."

"If it's a close race, or the near unimaginable happens — she loses — then make no mistake about it, this becomes the holy grail for the Republicans to flog the Democrats about the 2010 election," Massachusetts Democratic political consultant Mary Ann Marsh said. "Most people from around the country would say, 'Oh, my God, Ted Kennedy's seat, the bluest state in the country, a Democrat barely won.' And that would become a vehicle to raise money and beat up on Democratic members of Congress and the White House."

A local Republican analyst warned against being overly dismissive of Brown's chances, noting recent Republican victories in the New Jersey and Virginia gubernatorial elections.

"I think people who are concerned with what's going on in Washington have found a great candidate in Scott Brown," GOP strategist Charley Manning said. "Scott's clearly on one side of the issues and Martha's on the other, and the issues that really seem to be resonating with the people who are going to vote out in the primary are the ones who are on the same side as Scott."
