Ummm, silly person, no they don't. The storms of the past centuries were far more powerful than those of today. Far more. The only reason why the costs go up is more people living where the storms hit, and of course, inflation.

Lake Powell and Lake Meade are estimated to rise about 3% each this year which is great news since they've been dropping for many years. They are at about 1/4 of full capacity. The official story blames drought, but the truth is the drop is due mostly to overconsumption by Western states especially California. California is basically akin to China and air pollution. If they don't start taking water conservation seriously we will need about 10 years in a row of record snow pack to get back to normal levels.

Rain and snow in CA and the Sierras doesn't help the Colorado River lakes.....for that you need rain and snow melt from the Rockies west slope.
