The Space Shuttle Fleet is well past the time when it needed to be retired. The sad issue in all of this is lack of vision on the part of NASA to develop a follow-on to the Space Shuttle program , leaving this nation in the position where it has to rent rides from Russia for the forseeable future to a multi-billion dollar space station funded by the American taxpayer. The other issue here is not just this Administration but several of them, both Republican and Democrat not funding NASA to the point where it had to fly the shuttle well past its life cycle.
