Bush Warned Obama About VA

Bush solved the problem at Walter Reed. Period. No fucking around, he kicked ass and took names.
Bullshit!

Bush formed a commission to "study" the problem and make recommendations. They fired the guy in charge who was only there 6 months. Big fucking deal!

Couldn't help yourself, could you? NOW? What did Obama Run on in '08?

HE was going to Change it, wasn't he? WHY didn't he?

So, because Obama didn't fix what has been broken for generations, it's all his fault. You are a bunch of sick fucks, using veterans as political tools to serve your partisan agenda. Your newest faux-scandal will end like the rest - in a whimper. Fuck you.

NOT what I stated J.E.R.K.

He PROMISED he'd "Fix IT"...He was warned about it, and HE KNEW about it before he became POTUS.:eusa_hand:

Oh, give it a frigging rest.

Obama is to blame for not fixing it, or even trying, after such reports filtered-in.

He and his gang are not entirely to blame for this mess.

Much of it preceded him, and his predecessor, et al.

But each President gets a chance to make significant changes in that respect.

This appears to be one area in which he-and-his have failed.

Stating the obvious should not be cause for spleen-venting.

Or so it seems, at first glance.

Both sides are to blame.

INCLUDING Obama and his crew.

Here's a similar article from the Washington Times...

The Obama administration received clear notice more than five years ago that VA medical facilities were reporting inaccurate waiting times and experiencing scheduling failures that threatened to deny veterans timely health care — problems that have turned into a growing scandal.

Veterans Affairs officials warned the Obama-Biden transition team in the weeks after the 2008 presidential election that the department shouldn’t trust the wait times that its facilities were reporting.

Obama Knew About VA Problems as far Back as 2008
Bush knew about the problem for years before 2008 and did nothing about other than pass the problem to Obama, who at least pushed Congress to increase the VA budget to alleviate the problem. How come in all those years, righties never once condemned Bush for ignoring the problem?
Is this why Obama was madder than hell? By pretending that the VA issues just appeared out of the blue, and then doing an about face when the White House admitted on Monday that Obama knew about VA in 2008? That's 5 and a half years. There's no plausible excuse for these issues to still exist in 2014.

“New revelations that President Barack Obama has known since 2008 about delayed care and record falsification at Veterans Affairs facilities but did nothing, even as veterans died, call into question his personal role in the scandal,” Rep. Steve Stockman, Texas Republican, said in a statement Monday. “Obama knew. Obama knew for over five years. And Obama chose to do nothing even as veterans continued to die. … Obama continued to ignore the rising death toll until it was publicly exposed. Only then did he claim to be ‘madder than hell’ and took action, which he should have done over five years ago.”

no he did't. let me guess? you put drano in your coffee each morning.

Link?

well logically if this was an ongoing problem that bush needed to warn Obama on, then he didnt solve the issue now did he?

go ahead...spew your partisanship..

It was the last months of his administraiton, douche-breath. What was he supposed to do? Things often take a little time to solve, ya know? Look how long it's taken Obama to order Shinseki to conduct a thorough investigation. Even after Shinseki declared he would conduct a thorough investigation.

The Washington Times are any better?

It's not even a freaking paper.

So like everything else all the problems in the US started around 2009?

From left leaning CNN...
At the same time, Carney said Obama had long been aware of problems at the VA and sought to address them since taking office, adding "this is not a new issue to the President."

If Obama didn't know; he should have. If Bush didn't know, he should have.

Look, we went from zero combat troops in the field in 2000 to what, 300,000 to 700,000 who served in theater? Nobody needs to be informed how much medical care can cost. Try multiplying that by a quarter million.

We have never spent enough to compensate members of the military much less taking care of the combat veterans after hostilities end. To say that the President didn't know that the VA wasn't going to be up to the challenged caused by the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan is theater of the absurd.

Obama is in office. The blame lays with him. And it will lay with the next POTUS as well who will also fail.

2000 budget for VA 44.8 billion, 2013 138.8 billion, an increase of 94 billion dollars. Increasing the budget is obviously not the answer. Mismanagement is.

The best management team in the world cannot build capacity faster than possible. Neither can it predict the logistical ramifications such as a nation wide patient roster. For example, do they increase capacity in Houston or Honolulu? You build in one area and perhaps the need exists elsewhere. You increase staffing in Denver, and you may have shortages in Detroit.

A tripling of the budget looks to be barely adequate.

Mismanagement happened under Obama's watch; no doubt.

Walk-In Veterans' Treatment Centers Can't Keep Up With Caseload.

"A network of community-based walk-in veterans' treatment centers is under increasing pressure as more and more former troops who served in Iraq and Afghanistan have come looking for help. A report to be issued Thursday from the House Veterans Affairs Committee's Democratic staff says that nearly a third of all Vet Centers have seen the demand rise for outreach and other services ... It found that the number of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans who have sought help for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) doubled -- from nearly 4,500 to more than 9,000 -- from October 2005 through June 2006. The number of veterans with other types of possible mental health and readjustment problems also doubled, and in some cases tripled, the report said. Half of the Vet Centers sampled reported that their expanding caseloads have affected their ability to treat their current clientele. 'The administration's failure to increase staffing and other resources for Vet Centers has put their capacity to meet the needs of veterans and their families at risk,' the report said."

I was unaware of the report. It's not surprising however that in one year that just one type of syndrome of returning war vets doubled. The challenge to the VA or any single-demographic service is where you place your resources. The VA has the challenge of serving a nationwide corps of the sick and/or worried well who are fully entitled to the breadth of the service.

That some administrators were glossing over care is, I hope, punishable by lengthy prison sentences in a very small cell.

Oh, the dead veterans are very real. Just as real as they were when they died on Bush's watch. The faux scandal is that this is all Obama's fault. You're a shameless partisan hack, willing to use even the deaths of veterans as a political football. Fuck off, asshole.

There were no veterans who died in similar circumstances on Bush's watch

Right. No vets died during Bush's tenure. The record number of vets with mental disabilities and injuries coming home from Bush's war in Iraq, who fell through the cracks because the VA wasn't able to keep up with the increased caseload, ended up just fine. None of them died or had any issues due to lack of treatment. And you know this because......I don't know.....some right-wing hack blogger told you so? You're a fool.

Move those goalposts.
I wrote "similar circumstances." There were none who died under similar circumstances. Period. This is entirely Obama's doing. He may not have created the situation but he allowed it to go unchecked, even after he was warned this was happening.

Thanks for confirming two points; 1) This scandal is unique to the obama Adminsitraiton. 2) You are a total clueless dunce.

The scandal was far worse under the previous administration. And of course, Bush did nothing. Didn't one of you idiots post this the other day?

Veterans Affairs officials warned the Obama-Biden transition team in the weeks after the 2008 presidential election that the department shouldn’t trust the wait times that its facilities were reporting.

“This is not only a data integrity issue in which [Veterans Health Administration] reports unreliable performance data; it affects quality of care by delaying — and potentially denying — deserving veterans timely care,” the officials wrote.

Is Obama responsible for them? Or Bush? Bush. Did he take responsibility? No.

He just passed it on to the next guy. Just like his shitty unwanted wars, his shitty depression-near economy, and his shitty underwear.

But, natch, your boys swept it all under the rug, didn't you?

The heated right-wing response stands in stark contrast to the muted coverage Fox News provided for the last major controversy involving failed medical care for returning soldiers. In February 2007, the Washington Post, following up on original reporting done by Salon, exposed shockingly poor conditions inside the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Those revelations also sparked resignations and Congressional hearings.

But back then, of course, George W. Bush was president and back then Fox News wasn't as interested in the story. (It took Bill O'Reilly six weeks following the publication of the first Post expose to conclude that the Bush administration had badly bungled care at Walter Reed.) And Fox worried journalists were paying too much attention to the scandal.

Numbers highlight the striking disparity in coverage.

Over a six-week period during early 2007, as the Walter Reed story continued to generate headlines, Fox aired a total of 28 reports and discussions on the topic, according to a search of programs archived by Nexis. By contrast, in just the last seven days Fox has aired more than 30 segments on the VA story. (According to TVEyes.com, "VA" was mentioned more than 250 times on Fox between May 14-20; 100 more mentions than on CNN and MSNBC.)

In 2007, key talkers such as Sean Hannity and Charles Krauthammer were all amazingly silent on Fox, for weeks at a time, about the wounded soldiers scandal. During that time, Hannity failed on camera to condemn the deplorable Army hospital environment, or hold the administration accountable. The same lack of interest was shared by Krauthammer: Not once did he discuss Walter Reed on the air during his more than one dozen primetime Fox News appearances in the months of February and March in 2007.

And thanks for not caring for the over 7000 Americans Bush killed from 2003-2009.

I hope you see what I did there. Wipe your ass with legitimate debate without calling you names.
