Bush Did It, Reagan Did It, What Does it Matter?

Because both parties do it then blame the other

Because the partisans defend their guy for the same thing the other guy does

It is called Partisanship.

It's got to stop.

No, Jake, both parties do not do it. Quit with the moral equivalence shit. No one buys it anymore.

It matters because it's a clear illustration of the narrow political motives behind the republican response and their disinterest in any conclusion that does not result in willful criminal negligence and impeachment hearings, you understand now? It's the political motive coupled with the foregone conclusion of guilt by all involved that makes this thing a dirty political circus rather than anything honorable or righteous.

How does that even answer my questions?

well if you were not so fucking stupid, you would have understood it. This isnt the shortbus of the internet. So i can understand why you would have trouble understanding logic.

Phew, keep that fart down-wind, will ya?

basically. Look at impeachment. Clinton was and what did the left do? Look for every chance they could to scream impeachment of Bush. Which was stupid, and they never should have even mentioned it. Now that the right doesnt have the white house they are searching for every chance they can find to try impechment. ( more so the masses and not so much elected officials.)
This is the problem with politics. Its become tit for tat and context has now been tossed out the window for cheap wins.

Partisans will never see this. They are just too blind to reality.

More half truths.
Democrats lined up solidly behind Clinton, even though he was guilty of perjury and probably a ton of other things they couldn't quite prove but the circumstantial evidence was compelling.
Dems did look for anything they could impeach Bush with, although Bush bent over backwards trying to work with them.
The GOP knows it will never impeach Obama. No one will vote to impeach the First Black President. That isnt what this is about.
But the record of this administration in stonewalling, tampering with evidence and outright lying is breath taking. The GOP is right to assume its oversight role in the House and start asking questions and gathering facts.
What is this administration hiding?

Liberals dont trust people to make the right choices. That is the over-riding theme in just about all these threads.

That's the problem, I see nothing that even resembles objectivity in republican's actions. You have already made your choice just like all the rest, in your mind Obama is already impeachably guilty, it's just a matter of making it stick. None of you have even considered the possibility of honest mistakes or unforeseeable consequences, someone must be ruined over this and it must be a democrat, none of you will accept any other outcome, no matter what.

Why did the administration stonewall, dissemble, and thwart not just this investigation but every single other one?
How can you be objective when you know the president and his staff lied about Benghazi? It isnt even a question whether they did. We know they did.
Obama acts guilty so people assume he's guilty.

It's partisan politics, quit complaining, you would not have it any other way.

Honest mistakes and unforeseeable consequences doesn't cut it. He lies, attacks his political enemies and blames them, covers for the home team and is too ignorant and too arrogant to understand what makes an economy tick.

and this is why i dont bother talking with you about serious stuff. Your partisan bullshit is too thick to deal with. There is literally no point debating you on anything ever. Its a waste of time to reason with you.

You say that as if your "side" did not regularly do the same thing or worse. Trouble is, republicans expect democrats to play by the same "rules" they break with impunity, remember Karl Rove and the white house emails? Republicans have no moral ground to stand on in the obstruction game, in fact, they practically invented it.

That you and others on the right don’t get it comes as no surprise.

The responses you whine about concern the fact that Reagan and Bush both had numerous controversies worthy of investigation, all opposed by the partisan right, even though there was ample evidence justifying an investigation.

With regard to Obama, however, the partisan right has demanded ‘investigations’ of the president absent any evidence of ‘wrongdoing’ by the Administration, investigations driven solely by partisan politics perceived by the right as beneficial to their election efforts this year and in 2016, ‘Benghazi,’ of course, being the prime example.

Yet no one on the partisan right called for investigations or that either be ‘impeached,’ unlike Obama.

If your attacks on the president are going to be valid and taken seriously, those attacks need to be consistent, not partisan, which is how they’re correctly being perceived.

Karl Rove isn't an elected official and I have no idea what you are babbling about. What scandal did the Bush Administration obstruct?

Post the Reagan and Bush lies and coverups instead of talking smack.

Unless you are really young you should be familiar with the whole sorry mess, for example, remember when Cheney declared himself a fourth branch of the government and therefore not answerable the congress? Obama ain't got shit on that particular evasion of disclosure.

No it is not.
Again, I've posted this before. To Democrats everything is partisan politics. If they can make the other side look bad by opposing their bills, no matter how meritorious they are, then they'll do it. Barack Obama as senator never worked with the GOP on a single thing.
So they assume that everyone is like that.

Does this mean you're out of this thread? If so it's the best news I've had today.

There you are playing the same equivalence game. There were many differences between whatever Reagan did and whatever Bush did and what Obama has done.
Reagan and Bush did not lie. They did not attack their enemies or blame them like Obama does.
But you know, even if they did, so what? Does that make it OK somehow? DIdnt Obama come in promising to change the tone in Washington? Promising the most open and honest administration in history? WHy is it unfair to judge him based on his own pronouncements for his administration? WHy is it OK for him to stonewall, lie, obfuscate on matters of national security?

No, I dont recall that. I don't recall Cheney refusing to answer congressional inquriies or refusing to release documents under subpoena. Can you refresh our memories here?
But even if he did, does that make whatever Obama does OK?

Republicans claim to use logic, have Godly morals and are honest.
What happens when one discovers neither party can make those claims?
It is disheartening.

People use logic, parties do not. People have morals, parties do not. People are honest, parties are not. If you were honest, had Godly morals, and used logic, you would have realized that before you posted.

I don't read HuffPo so no, I never heard of Cheney saying that. Got a source?

I asked before seeing your post. This should be good.
