Another Hollywood type you youngsters probably never heard of.

A known movie star, he was also a licensed multi-engine pilot and enlisted as a private in the army March 22, 1941 - long before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. He flew all sorts of combat missions in Europe during WWII and never once leaned on his fame as a movie star with an Oscar. In fact, he was the only many during WWII who went from Private to Colonel in four years.
