First, the rule behind borrowing:
The larger the down payment you offer your lender, the lower your interest rate may be. A larger down payment generally means you're a less risky borrower, and a less risky borrower means a lower interest rate.
As such, the more collateral you bring to the table, the lower the interest rate you get, due to the level of risk the bank takes.
By overvaluing his collateral, Trump was able to illegally get lower interest rates.
Plus, unlike the republican talking points, banks that loaned Trump money did LOSE MONEY. When they forced Trump to refinance, to avoid bankruptcy in the 1990's banks agreed to forgo .

The judge could issue a bench warrant for Trump’s arrest for blinking too often in the court room and the petulant Democrats would applaud. This is a political circus and very dangerous for the future of our country.

The banks wanted to give Trump the loans because they were HUGE and they knew he had more than enough assets in total to back them up. They really didn’t care much about the value of a singular asset. This is not the same as you applying for that payday loan for $500. They verify and verify again in those cases. On top of all of this, they were not harmed nor or they the ones filing the suit, which is kind of what is supposed to happen in a civil suit.
These cases would have never made it to trial in a non-partisan court system.
