Some Texans do have a heart, and do want to help--but the Border Patrol will not let them:

Border Patrol allegedly turning down donations of soap, diapers, toys at Texas facilities housing migrant children

"As reports circulate regarding living conditions in some migrant shelters along the U.S.-Mexico border, some Texans have stepped in to do what they can.
However, a report from the Texas Tribune indicates that officials from U.S. Customs and Border Patrol will not accept donations from citizens who want to provide for hundreds of children waiting in shelters across the state.
According to the Tribune, Austin Savage and five of his friends purchased $340 of soap, diapers, wipes and toys and drove to the Border Patrol station in Clint, Texas to deliver the items.
Savage said a friend, who is an immigration lawyer, had warned him that CBP likely wouldn't take the donations before they headed to the facility.
"We were aware of that, but it's just the idea of doing something as opposed to passively allowing this to occur,' he told the Tribune.
Savage said when they arrived, they found out that the station lobby was closed, and attempts to talk to the border patrol agents in a nearby parking area went unanswered. However, Savage said someone else had left supplies in a plastic bag left near the lobby door.
The bag had a note attached which read, "I heard y'all need soap + toothpaste for kids.""

"We received reports from children of a lice outbreak in one of the cells where there were about twenty-five children, and what they told us is that six of the children were found to have lice. And so they were given a lice shampoo, and the other children were given two combs and told to share those two combs, two lice combs, and brush their hair with the same combs, which is something you never do with a lice outbreak. And then what happened was one of the combs was lost, and Border Patrol agents got so mad that they took away the children's blankets and mats.

But let's put the government in charge of health care and "higher" education. They'll do a great job. Totally competent.

The US Border Patrol is not an aid organization. There are numerous NGO's who are already supporting the invasion. If you wish to exacerbate it I am sure they would gladly take your cash.

It would appear that the govt. has been shamed into doing some semblance of the right thing. Or at least trying to sweep the issue under a different rug:

US gov't moves migrant kids after AP exposes bad treatment

"The U.S. government has removed most children from a remote Border Patrol station in Texas near the border with Mexico following reports that more than 300 children were detained there and caring for each other with inadequate food, water and sanitation.
Only about 30 children remained at the station outside El Paso on Monday, Rep. Veronica Escobar said after her office was briefed on the situation by a U.S. Customs and Border Protection official.
Most of the infants, toddlers and teens who were held at the Border Patrol station in Clint, Texas, were scheduled to be transferred by Tuesday to shelters and other facilities run by a separate federal agency, the Office of Refugee Resettlement said.
Attorneys involved in monitoring care for migrant children who visited Clint last week said older children were trying to take care of toddlers, The Associated Press reported Thursday. They described a 4-year-old with matted hair who had gone without a shower for days, and hungry, inconsolable children struggling to soothe one another. Some had been locked for three weeks inside the facility, where 15 children were sick with the flu and another 10 were in medical quarantine."

Border Patrol officials have not responded to AP's questions about the conditions at the Clint facility, but emailed a statement Monday that said: "Our short-term holding facilities were not designed to hold vulnerable populations and we urgently need additional humanitarian funding to manage this crisis."

LOL! They want some more money...to help manage--but can't accept some diapers and toys?

It IS a logistical nightmare to start taking non specific donations from the general public, and the facilities probably don't have the manpower, the space or the approval to start taking in supplies. I'm sure everything has to be fresh off the delivery truck to ensure it is clean, safe, meets the guidelines, etc.

I'm not making this up--it's how government agencies roll.

IMO, 10-25% of which MIGHT make to the illegal aliens being held.
IMO exactly 0% should make it to them. Incentivizing of any sort should be discouraged.

Oh WOW; It's just like that dictator dick head in Venezuela keeping supplies away from the peeps.

Trump has to go; he's doing the same shit as Maduro now.

What happens if a group of those kids become ill from eating or using some of the items donated?

The Border Patrol cannot take the time to inspect each and every donation.

They can't take the time? Yeah right, is that what you told your commanding officer when ordered to fulfill a task?

Cbp and the people in charge of healthcare are two completely different animals. Actually only the CBP folks are animals.

What did you tell your commanding officer when he told you not to waste your time?
