Struggling with my old high school Spanish, because I occasionally converse with the Spanish speaking nuns at the monastery near me.

They are very patient with me.

I am the retard of the family. Mom knew German, Russian, and Acadian French. My kids know English and Northern Mexico dialect Spanish (fluent). Wife knows German. Dad knew a good bit of Moroccan.

I understand some German, Spanish and Latin just because I studied those languages in High School.

I understand Spanish probably the most. I think I picked up most of my understanding of Spanish by visiting Spanish speaking countries.
