Batwoman' creators quit, saying DC Comics forbade lesbian marriage

DC Comics will let Batwoman be a lesbian, but she can't marry her partner?

that's dumb.

If you ever take time to read some comics you'll see there's all kinds of twisted and depraved shit that always seem to be happening in them. Gay/lesbian superheroes are pretty damn tame compared to some of the graphic sex/language/violence/drugs that regularly appear in those things.

I have to add that DC and the DC universe are complete garbage compared to Marvel btw.

Graphic sex? I know there are some Japanese comics that incorporate gay porn. Wasn't sure about DC comics though.

There are lots of comic book publishers these days. Those 2 that left DC will find jobs with one of those where they can do pretty much whatever they want. They might not make anywhere near as much money but maybe they don't care.

DC and Marvel are pretty conservative compared to some of the others. They won't show nudity (at least I've never seen any) but everything else is pretty much accepted.

Do you know if they own the rights to Batwoman or does DC Comics? If they own the rights they have every right to sell their wares to a publisher that will publish their story. DC Comics is within its right not to associate their name with such a controversial subject.

2 things. First, that's an infinitesimally small percentage of comic book heroes.

Second, SAILOR MOON??? Link please. So my inner 10 year old self can live out one of his dreams.

There are lists, and lists, of the hundreds of gay superheros listed. I forget where I saw Sailor Moon, but if you search sailor moon gay, you will come up with numerous references, mostly videos.

Considering most of the characters you listed aren't gay, I wonder where these lists come from. :eusa_whistle:

I did a search on gay Spider-Man. Evidently they killed off Peter Parker and replaced him with a gay man?

Why is that exactly?

I think he has some serious arrested development issues...

Considering the multiple billion+ dollar revenue of a few comic-book based movies, I don't think they can be considered just for kids.

Some of the comics out there are actually quite adult.

They certainly are written in a more mature manner than 40 or 50 years ago!

The problem here is that there has been a divorce between comics and movies.

The movies have their own treatment of characters that have nothing to do with the books anymore. Which is why characters who would never be killed in a comic are routinely killed in movies.

Poor old Harvey Two-Face gets killed every time he shows up in a movie.

Oh, by the gods...

Batman and Robin: no.
Spiderman: considering he's MARRIED to MJ Watson...no!
Wonder Woman has been bisexual pretty much from day one.
Batwoman was originally (1950's) written as a love interest for Batman.
Harley Quinn is the Joker's girlfriend!
Poison Ivy's love is plants, not people.
Mystique was married (to Christian Wagner, deceased) and has two children. (Graydon Creed & Nightcrawler)

You know way too much about Comic Books for a grown man...

Why is that exactly?

Who knows but I got the info off comic sites that cater to gays. I took the time to look it up.

JoeB131 reads comic books, earns minimum wage and hates his menial job.

Don't get me wrong, I once read comics, when I was 6 or 7!!
Some people never grow up, people called liberals!!

I don't read Spider Man, but I do see things about him on sites I visit. As I understand it, at the moment Spider Man's body is actually occupied by the mind of Doctor Octopus. There was also an hispanic man who became Spider Man, but I think that might have been one of the alternate universe type of things? I don't know which of those might have been gay, or both of them. I just know Peter Parker hasn't been portrayed as gay because his character has a long relationship with Mary Jane, who is portrayed as the love of his life.

Comic book heroes have tended to be straight white men for the majority of comic history, so I can understand the desire to mix things up. I'm actually a bit surprised we don't see more of it, whether it's sexuality, religion, whatever.

Let me get this straight, you think any grown man who likes comics is an idiot because you are a pretentious asshole.

I will let the world's biggest pretentious asshole know you think he is an idiot for liking Spiderman.

By the way, does thinking Obama is an idiot make you a racist?

Somehow I don't think President Obama is spending his time reading comic books.

Although I understand that's how they used to brief President Bush.

I admire the man for being a comic book fan, and that means I am off my meds.

Sad.
