Baggin' on First Ladies

I Believe the Hate for Laura is Completely Rooted in the Hate for her Husband, whereas the Hate for HILLARY! and Michelle is Rooted in what they Believe, Advocate for and are Politically.

There is very little leftwing hatred for Laura, in fact - it's only the moonbats who go on about her accident years ago (moonbats being the leftwing equivelent of wingnuts). She has considerably more affection and respect then her husband.

Hatred for Hillary is due in part to the fact that she is a woman with a powerful and sometimes abrasive personality. A lot of people just don't like that in a woman.

Hatred for Michelle, quite frankly - is partisan. It has nothing to do with what she believes and advocates for. A good bit of what she advocates (particularly with education and children) is much like what Laura Bush did.

Are you Fucking Kidding me?...

HILLARY! is a Socialist... She Advocates for and has Supported it since she was Weened off the Teat back during Nixon...

As for Michelle... She has a Career/History/Education...

She's and Advocate...

She's now Playing Politics on the Highest Level, not just from the Mayor's Office in Chi-Town.

Do some Fucking Reading!

This has NOTHING to do with their Gender.

It has EVERYTHING to do with Political Ideaology.

Deal with it.

Nope...it has a lot to do with gender or partisanship.

Michelle - unllike Hillary - does not involve herself in the politics but she's been criticized non-stop by the right who define her as an "angry black woman" stereotype, in absence of any actual facts.

Too bad....since she's never said or done anything to indicate that (unless you believe out of context partial quotes).

Yup, Neo-cons have a fear of intelligent and ambitious women. Scares them just as bad as intelligent and ambitious men of color.

snotty, illiterate and uncalled for.

Is Laura out in the arena where she is fair game? Why the hate fest for her?

Michelle and Hillary lead point for their husbands agenda and are out there in the arena on a daily basis, You get into the battle, you are a legit target.

Lots of conservative gals out there. Lots of conservative minorities. Well, a few. We have no problem with either.

Moldy Cock is too full of his poisonous partisan misguided beliefs to think clearly or to speak objectively or honestly.

Pay him no mind. Nobody does.

I have never really attacked First Ladies too much. Laura was way to nice to say anything bad about, I liked Hilary, I like Michelle, and I was in grade school or pre school when Nancy and Barbara were in the White House. And Carter left office a few months after I was born. ;)

"And in my own life, in my own small way, I've tried to give back to this country that has given me so much. That's why I left a job at a law firm for a career in public service, working to empower young people to volunteer in their communities. Because I believe that each of us--no matter what our age or background or walk of life--each of us has something to contribute to the life of this nation." Mrs Obama

She said for the first tiem in my adult life I am REALLY proud of my country.

You slander her for being REALLY proud of her country fro proving to her it could step over the bounds of racism and elect a person of color.

On top of that she knows this person the country elected and thinks he is an exceptional choice.

You misquote so you can distroy the good feelings ALL of us Americans had the momment we realized this country made a HUGE step.

Go Fuck Your Self willow.

Context is found in the FULL quote:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYY73RO_egw]YouTube - Michelle Obama: First Time proud of USA[/ame]

"What we have learned over this year is that hope is making a comeback. It is making a comeback. And let me tell you something -- for the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country. And not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change. And I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction and just not feeling so alone in my frustration and disappointment. I've seen people who are hungry to be unified around some basic common issues, and it's made me proud." [Please note there is a slight audio glitch during the word "really" and so the full quote has been included in this caption.] UPDATE: There is a new link in the related section that the AP has indicated is a new state from Michelle Obama clarifying her remarks.

Does that make her an "America hater"?

As for America being "downright mean" - context means the entire quote, and her audience - who was she speaking too? American can be "down right" mean to certain groups of people at different times in history. To ignore that with a blind patriotism that acknowledges no faults does our country no favor.

Are these the quotes of an "America hater"? (quotes that her wingnut detractors conveniently ignore):

"And in my own life, in my own small way, I've tried to give back to this country that has given me so much. That's why I left a job at a law firm for a career in public service, working to empower young people to volunteer in their communities. Because I believe that each of us--no matter what our age or background or walk of life--each of us has something to contribute to the life of this nation."

It is because of the subjective isolating of certain quotes outside of their context - even distorting them to encourage anger and outrage out of proportion to the words or - more impportantly - the intent behind the words - strikes me as a very partisan hatred of Michelle becuase they hate her husband. Laura was lucky. At least the hatred for her husband didn't reflect on her too.

Barbara Bush, like Laura Bush was properly "first wifey" - and stayed hidden behind her husband.

Nancy Reagan and Roselyn Carter were both strong women and came in for a great deal of criticism - mostly partisan.

If you want to get into how each political side portrays the marriages of the other side, that something else.

The Basis of my OP... And more Specifically the Individuals.

:)

peace...

I was thinking a bit more about this topic, and specifically about whether some marriages are a marriage born out of political alliance, and something hit me.

So what?

So what if political considerations factor into the decision. The person you marry is one of the biggest and most important decisions you will make in your life. I'm married, I know you are, would you be willing to say you never examined your goals and your future wife's goals to see if they were compatible before you got married?

I could give examples from my own life of girls I could have married but didn't, as their goals and mine didn't match up at all. Is it so wrong to think rationally about marriage?

I didn't Marry my Wife because I Thought she could get me somewhere... Nor did she...

That's a Poltical Animal thing...

I have been told, as I am Sure many of use on Political Boards have, that I should've gotten into Politics...

Fuck that.

Almost ALL People who are in Politics don't give ANY Consideration to those that should Matter the Most.

I would NEVER Put my Wife through the Process and now that we have Children...

As much as I am Entertained by Poltics... Those who are Actual Players in it, Disgust me More than not.

And Ultimately, this is Entertainment for me and has been since I was VERY Young...

I Volunteered for (41) in High School... Wasn't Old enough to Vote and my Parents Voted Against him, so I wasn't going to Rally's with them.

Something about the Game Interests me and always has.

I was a in front of a TV during Watergate, as many in my Age Group were...

Nam was Shitting the Bed and the Country was in a Bad Way...

Carter and the Iran Hostage Situation brought Talk of Nuclear War with the Middle East...

We were Listening... At least I was.

Just as I am Certain that Kids were Listening when the TV was Arguing about Blow Jobs being Sex in the Late 90's and Parents doing the same.

I don't Like Reality Shows or much of what's on TV, but I am Always Entertained by Politics.

By Guessing it...

Observing the Sides in Situations, Similar and New.

Watching the Drama...

Researching the Details...

Anyway.
