The same idiot politicians who thought creating “Gun Free Zones” would make our schools safe assumed they could stop a few million patriotic bikers from driving non-stop through Washington, D.C. by denying them a permit. As usual, the idea BACKFIRED. The bikers, from some far-away states are already on the road and they all still intend to be there but now, obeying every law, every stop light, every pedestrian, their two hour ride will last all day long.

The real patriots in America are the one’s willing to put down their personal business to join in a mutual effort to pay honor and tribute to our fallen heroes. To defend our rights to liberty and freedom and to confront those who choose to demean those heroes. Today those patriots are the millions of bikers in America who express their pride in their country and in their individualism every day they ride. Today they are on their way to Washington, D.C. to set the record straight.

Now they will have to follow all traffic laws, thus slowing down thier passing through the area, and probably gnarling up traffic pretty bad.

When you submit a permit you tell them how many you expect. It is explicitly stated that if your event exceeds that the POlice have the option of shutting you down.

Most events double or triple what they expect to make sure that doesn't happen. But that doubles or triples the amount of say, porta potties you must have.

Generally if you have more the cops won't intervene or shut you down...unless things get out of hand. Then they will use that clause in the permit agreement to shut you down immediately.

As I said, the DC cops do this everyday, if you think you can outsmart them, that is your first mistake.

Stephanie, I don't like the gvmnt intrusion but a process is a process.

Now the people involved should think this over with somebody who knows the possibilities of the police response to minimize the problems.

It is silly to expect that the police knowing this in advance won't prepare any surprises - like not letting anybody on a bike into the city with a bogus decision of the City Council - they can get it in 5 minutes.

And put SWAT and armed police and not let a mice in.

The gvrnmnt can do it and most likely will - "to protect the citizens"
