An Arizona sheriff has announced plans to deploy an armed volunteer posse to protect Phoenix-area students in the wake of the mass shooting at a Connecticut elementary school.

He says he doesn't plan to put posse members inside schools but will have them posted around the perimeters...

Attorney General Tom Horne proposed firearms training for one person in each school. And Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu proposed training multiple educators per school to carry guns.

Gawd. I sure as hell don't miss the insanity that is the norm in AZ. Arpaio is certifiable.

Homosexuality was once considered "lunatic" and a sickness.

Children growing up in a society where they see armed people all the time are very likely to view this as "normal" .............................................. and very likely to become paranoid adults who will shoot at anything that makes a funny noise. That's the scary part.

People who don't live in Phx take for granted that Arpaio's own self-aggrandizement is accurate. Its not.

Among US sheriffs, he is 13th in actually deporting illegals even though he says he Number One. Clarence Dupnik of Pima county is the actually number one in the United States and has been honored by a national law enforcement for what he really does. Another KKK/white supremacist sheriff, Paul Babeu of Pinal county doesn't even register but he's the one who appeared in the phony "finish the damn fence" spot with McCain.

Arpaio is all badge, no sheriff. He's just looking for the spotlight and, just like his promise that he had "proof" of something about Obama's birth certificate and would be going public with it, he'll make noise to get the publicity and then slink away.

The rw's fall for it every time and they'll fall for it this time too.
