One more victim of a convicted and released sex offender.

HOMOSASSA, Fla. -- Citrus County Sheriff Jeff Dawsy says John Couey confessed to abducting and killing 9-year-old Jessica Lunsford.

Sheriff's deputies cordoned off an area near the home where the registered sex offender had been staying.

I hope the bastard has an unfortunate accident between there and here. :( :bang3:

Don't waste the bullet. Just break their knees with a brick-bat and roll them into a ravine. Let the elements and the scavengers deal with them.

Unfortunately the Supreme Court would probably say that violates the 8th amendment. I wish they would start strictly interpreting it to mean we arent allowed to torture which is exactly what it means rather than the BS they are trying to read into it.

Looking away, for a moment, from the gut-wrenching tragedy of this, and the monstrosity of the perpetrator (neither being easy things to do, I'll grant you), I really feel like asking this guy, "If you had to pull this shit, why on earth would you do it in FLORIDA??!! Are you RETARDED???!!!"

They're not going to jack around with this guy - not even for a minute.

They're gonna pull that switch

It's gonna make you twitch

A worthless son of a bitch

Is now leaving

Good riddance

Actually the death penalty would be to humane for this scumbag!

This is exactly the type of case wherein I think the *parents* should be able to exact the punishment of their choosing, with absolutely *ZERO* consequences, or stipulations...

That would be true justice.

This little girl's mother lives about 45 minutes from here, so we've seen it on the news several times every day.

But I agree with you Evil. How could anyone look into the precious face of this little girl & not believe in capital punishment.

Any convicted child molestor should be put to death - even if murder is not involved. Failing that, they should be castrated. Without anesthesia.

and none of this chemical castration either, dull knife all the way

I am completely against castration of any kind...why? Because it doesn't solve the problem...it doesn't fix the person's warped and severely disturbed brain.

Rape, pedophilia, crimes of this nature are sexual, yes...but they aren't neccessarily about sex...they are about power over another person, someone weaker than they are. There are many documented cases of people raping people with objects rather than sex organs...if we castrated the sick man who killed this little girl...do you honestly think he wouldn't have killed her???

Nope, sorry...I'm for the death penalty for child molestors. I think that as a society we have a right to say, "You have been found guilty of pedophilia, we know at this point in time that rehabilitation is not an option. Simply put, we have no clue how to "fix you." Statistics have shown that pedophiliacs have a very high relapse frequency and, to be blunt, we can not allow that risk. We are sorry that we do not posess the scientific or psychological skills needed to repair you...but you do not work in our society...so we are removing you from it."

I do not think the death penalty is about punishment...I agree completely with anti-death penalty people who say, "Telling someone that murder is the worst thing you can do...and to punish you we are going to murder you." is hypocritical. Instead, I support saying, "You have proven that you are incapeable of functioning within our society...therefore we are removing you from it for the safety and proper functioning of that society." A man like Scott Peterson has been convicted of killing his wife and unborn child...he has shown that he lacks the social and moral qualifications for working in our society...get rid of him...a man like this child molestor has been arrested OVER 20 TIMES...he has shown AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN that he is incapable of functioning in our society....GET RID OF HIM!!!!

Used in this sense, the death penalty is not about judgement, or punishment...is about the knowledge and understanding that our society is held together by all of us agreeing to live and interact under a strict set of unspoken rules...if you demonstrate that your inability to live under these rules is causing harm to others...and we as a society have no way rehabilitate you...then it is common sense to remove you from that society.

The fact that this man was released and allowed to harm another person, let alone kill an innocent child, is disgusting...and I hope that every person who had anything to do with his "rehabilitaiton" and release is thoroughly ashamed of themselves. How many times to child molestors have to prove that they are incapable of being reassimilated into society before we STOP LETTING THEM OUT to harm more of our children??!

It was 24 times to be exact. That blew me away when I heard it. How in God's name is someone who has been arrested 24 times living in a neighborhood where there are that many children around?

If people are going to insist that monsters like this are released from prison, then we should build a community for them, much like the old Boys Town. Take an old Air Force base or something and stick them all in there. That way, nobody has to worry about what kind of neighbor they are getting, they know their neighbor is a sick bastard just like them.

Gee Bully, you've been hanging around USMB too long! I thought that you liberals were supposed to be open and compassionate, now your sounding like a Nazi just like the rest of us!

Seriously though, my sentiments exactly.

Here's a story that I think is relevant...

Several years ago, a controversy was stirred up locally when a convicted child offender was released then moved into the same school district as my kid. As a result, a meeting was called at the school to discuss the situation (did you ever notice that whenever there's a problem, the first thing people do is call a meeting? But, I digress). The guest speaker at the meeting was the head of the county parole board. After his lecture on the law regarding child molesters someone asked "why isn't something done to rehabilitate these people?" To which he answered, that it was a common misconception that such people can be rehabilitated. The fact is, that even the most successful program in the country that tries to rehabilitate child molesters has a success rate of 25%. In short, he said, they are not likely to change. After that, I was convinced (as if I needed to be) that the most effective way to deal with this problem is "one strike and you're out" i.e. if you're convicted of having sex with a kid, off to jail with you for the rest of your life and no parole ever.

As a followup to this story, I was talking about this meeting with a co-worker the following day and made the mistake of being within ear shot of a female co-worker who was a rabid liberal. Right away she starts yelling at me that this is all a witch hunt, and blah-blah-blah. I countered, but after about 5 minutes of arguing I had to stop. It certainly proved who's side she was on and certainly not the kids'.

In another development, about a year ago, two IT workers (IT - "information technology") who were subcontracted to help users with their PCs at City College found about 10 or 20 megabytes on a law professor's workstation. After reporting their discovery to the college authorites, they were dismissed by their employer the very next day . One of the workers sued the company for wrongful dismissal. But it makes you wonder, how City College can defend a tenured professor who has child porn on his company provided workstation? It also answers the question why the legal system allows kids to be preyed upon by these creeps. If you haven't figured out the answer, it's quite simple, the legal system is run by a bunch of liberal, Leftist extremist nut jobs who still cling on to a bunch of Peter Pan fantasies about these animals.

For once, I have to agree with Bully, the only way to deal with these people is in the harshest manner possible.

I have a personal story that kind of falls into this paticular topic!

Thankfully mine had a happier ending then that poor little girl! God rest her soul.

I was 11 and at home getting ready for school it was around 6:30 in the morning, my brother who was 7 was asleep on the couch, my mother had just left for work and once I was finished getting ready we were going across the street to the sitter's house this was in 1981.

I was in the dining room getting ready for school and the cat started meowing at the windows, I couldn't figure out why, so I stood there looking at the window and then saw someone's hand tap very lightly on the window.

Keep in mind me and my brother are home alone now!
Anyway I don't know why, but I didn't open the door, instead I went and opened the dining room window, it was some man I had never seen before he asked if he could use my phone, because he was lost and trying to find his family's home.

I told him I will have to ask my sitter so I closed the window and went and got on the phone to call the sitter across the street, she said no, do not let him in. She told me to tell him no and turn on the porch light so she could look outside to see who this guy was. I went back to the window and told this guy, sorry my sitter said no, you can't use the phone. He left! My sitter had me and my brother come over as soon as this guy was gone, she had already called the cops so I told them all that happened.

A few days later around 6 am the next door neighbor calls my mother who was getting ready to leave for work. Apperently this same guy was sitting out in his car parked on the street, she had already called the police. They stopped and asked him what he was doing? I believe he said just sitting there, they told him to move on!

Well that was the end of it, or so I thought, I found out just a few years ago that this guy had been following me for months, back and forth from school, when I was out playing, SCARY!

He also was arrested a couple of months after this incident for raping a 13 year old girl not to far from where I lived. He did get jail time, not enough I'm sure.

I can only imagine what might have happened, if I had opened that door that morning!
