Great, make it whatever number you like. I'm sure no one will mind when companies higher fewer people and make those who remain be far more productive.

This is all an interesting debate (well, we don't really "debate" here), but employers will do what they have to do to survive.

Oh, and that's the case regardless of the country, by the way.

And no one will notice when 15 becomes worth what 7 was worth 5 years ago.
Trickle up poor

That is the end goal though supporters see it as middle class.
The goal is to ensure that all are given fairly equal shares. Some rich and some poor but the vast majority even in the middle. Unfortunately, everyone is never equally wealthy, only equally poor.
