"Stolen stones", I love it. Apparently it was based on a religion dedicated to the gods that controlled the environment. When the crops failed and human sacrifices failed to bring on the beneficial climate the believers abandoned the structure and the religion.

It was a giant planetarium and astronomical observatory. Pretty cool for a supposedly 'backward' culture. No wonder the Welsh are jealous. Most of them couldn't read a compass, or a wristwatch for that matter; a bunch of witless hillbillies.
