Catholics faced it, as did Italians and the Irish, stereotypes take the place of thought among the uneducated. Is there any need to mention racism? I did in the OP and the book on 'dog whistles' should give any thoughtful person pause. Today conservative America is lost for their work has created a monster and the monster appeals to a base that points its finger in the wrong direction.
