Amazon prohibits mail in Union voting

Apparently Amazon believes that mail in voting is prone to mass fraud, so they only allow their employees to vote in person.

Hypocrisy much Mr. Left wing Bezos?
He’s not fiscally liberal. I don’t care about his social beliefs I want to know his position on labor.

Just like Bruce Jenner is a conservative white male republican. He ain’t liberal.
It's interesting how all these big liberals out there instantly become very conservative when it comes to their own money

Just like Bernie Sanders, AOC, and the socialist clown cast in Congress.
I got a big raise a few years ago. Like $40,000. Did i insist on sharing it with my co workers? Nope.
You were doing something right to get that kind of increase.

Fraud in union mail-in voting? Union mail-in voting prone to mass fraud? Naah.
There is mail-in voting and then there is union mail-in voting. Huge difference.
The funny thing is if people didn’t fear the company would close and move it would be a resounding hell yes for unions.

Better pay
Better benefits
Job security
Worker rights and protection from being fired.

A company should be able to fire a bad worker though. Unions go too far protecting pieces of shit
Don't forget featherbedding
What’s feather bedding?
More workers on a job than necessary.

In Germany the employees have someone representing them in the executive boardroom. Profits are up? Costs are down? Productivity is up? Cost of living went up? How about we give the workers a raise?

In america companies can let years go by you fear you’ll lose your job so you don’t ask or demand a raise.

"Feather Bedding" is when the employer agrees to make so many "no show" or "no work" jobs available for the union bosses to distribute. Ever see the Sopranos episode where the crew is sitting outside the Esplanade construction site on lawn furniture wearing hard hats?

When I started I doubled aftermarket sales. The first president gave me a $5000 raise. Pathetic but at the time I was happy. Then I tripled sales he gave me another $5000 the next year. I was making them around $600,000 clear in profits.

Luckily I told another sales guy that my raises were insulting and Andy was cheap. That guy was later made the president. He must not wanted to lose me because yea, I was shocked when he told me he was giving me $15,000 base raise plus now I would be making 1.5% commissions on everything I sold. It was life changing. I maxed out my 401k so I don’t feel RICH but I’m saving a ton. 12 more years I can retire but if I can continue doing this from anywhere I have an internet connection I’ll never quit.

I could go stay in Florida for the winter and work from there. And my brothers hunting property up north finally has high speed internet so during hunting season I work from up there.

I think my Belarusian girlfriend and her sister do that. They don’t make a lot of $ but it allows them to pay into social security at least so one day they can get social security and Medicare and sometimes the scammers get on disability or Medicaid. Then Medicaid pays for a caregiver. They get a friend to say they are the caregiver for $100 a month and they keep the rest. Scams!

A lot of people don't understand union organizing campaigns. They aren't "organic".

The union identifies a target- like the Bessemer Amazon facility or the Rogers AR Walmart. Then they get a few organizers hired by the targeted company to work and get people interested in the union. The union organizers are subsidized by the union.

Feather Bedding
    • "deliberately limit production or retain excess staff in (a business) in order to create jobs or prevent unemployment, typically as a result of a union contract." In other words, more workers on a job than necessary just to satisfy union demands.

This is important, not just for the money it brings into the organization, but the fact that these "jobs" provide legitimate explanation to parole officers how the crew members are working. Can't tell your parole officer that you pay your bills from drug sales or pimping.

They were something we talked about in the 2000s when republicans were defending bush when 700,000 high paying union manufacturing jobs were going overseas, GM I guess had a room where they would just go sit and sleep. I never heard it called feather bedding. What was it called? Jobs banks?

Anyways, this is something I would not agree to if I were the company. But I think workers are saying amazon bosses are slave drivers. Don’t give breaks. The jobs cause injuries. They are under staffed.

I understand trying to get the most out of workers but perhaps these places need to hire a few more people and give more breaks. Do you bust your ass for 8 hours a day with only 2 15 minute breaks?

When employers push too hard that’s when workers unionize.

The company may have no choice but to give in this area.
There was a big manufacturing movement to other countries in the 1970s also
due to very high wages and benefits in union contracts after protracted strikes which made the companies uncompetitive in the selling market.

And here is where we disagree.

Plenty of employers are hard asses with their employees, yet never have to face down a union boss.

Unionization comes down after the Union identifies a target, send in organizers to get hired by the targeted firm, and work on them from the inside over a period of months , getting cards signed, etc.

Unless, and until , Big Labor gets an employer in their crosshairs, nothing happens.

This can’t be sent to China. This is a well located hub where they pack and ship all the shit we get from amazon. Location is key. Remember th3 deal with New York fell through because bezos didn’t want to pay taxes? Where did he go instead? I haven’t heard. So location is important here.

He put it in a poor black community where the labor is cheap. They appreciate the jobs but if enough workers agree the job is shit they can organize. They have the right and I believe unions are what made America great. This right here. A company making billions and not paying enough or not treating the workers right. Unions made America great. Better pay, job security and protections.

Of course if you’re in management or an investor you disagree no doubt.

Sure. I can’t imagine one or two guys starting a union without outside help. The company would hear about it and fire you. Problem solved.

Cowboys on a long run will often change horses midway to give the first house a rest. O4 you could just run one horse to death.

Actually, a place does get unionized starting with one or two guys that enter the workplace "undercover" to take the employer down. If they get fired, it isn't a big deal, as the union will just send other moles in to agitate the work force into accepting union hegemony.

Suppose for a sec that the UFCW gets "in there" at Amazon? What do you think will happen next?
