Am i the only one who thinks it's GOOD the government shuts down?

The best thing about the government shutting down is it shows how much we really don't need it. If they want to shut it down, then shut it down. It doesn't change my life one bit. In fact, it could only make it better.

one of the main functions of the federal government is to organize for war....but we got twitter now

Most of the shutdowns that have happened last only a few days and result in non-essential government employees being furloughed. No biggee. Extended shutdowns of a couple weeks or more can have a small effect on GDP like the one under Obama. But it isn't the crisis implied by the term "government shutdown".

it's very bad for all of us taxpayers....by shutting down, instead of paying our bills for what was spent and borrowed, we will lose our credit rating, and any drop in credit rating will raise our interest rates on the 20 trillion national debt, which will force us to raise taxes on everyone to pay for simply the interest payment on our debt.

A VERY BAD IDEA

that's very very very bad for us and future generations....

Haven't we already decided the US has no need for a representative form of government in which the people should have a voice? Why, that's why we elect politicians who do not believe in government to go in and make government not work so they can say see? It doesn't work. Besides, elections are mute now, Goldman Sachs is always all up in the white house regardless of electoral outcomes. A handful of multinational corporations bought up and control the american "information" system and the political system is already in the hands of the donor class, we no longer have any room for the voice of the people. America was always intended for the aristocracy, it was merely that the colonial aristocracy didn't want to answer to the British aristocracy. So why don't we go ahead, make it openly official, and proclaim the rights of the aristocracy over all others and allow them to continue to extract, redistribute and concentrate societal wealth. If they run into trouble, we can shower them with socialism again.

We don't do war anymore, we do colonial occupations.

So let me ask everybody here. What would happen if we had a major shutdown that lasted for months, and nobody really knew the difference? Wouldn't that tell us something? Five or six months later, everybody is still doing fine.

Last shutdown cost $26 Billion
You could build a wall for that much

Bulllllllllshit. Just bull shit. If this was the case, why are we not Mexico after every other shut down? If anything, the fct that we have such a huge credit card bill is reason enough alone to shut it down.

first off

the government never really "shuts down"

it does however go into a streamlined operation

which shows us one thing for sure

that the government is way too over bloated

and could use a good chopping

Those Government employees who perform functions that will cause public harm immediately if they are not there get classified as "essential" and are not subject to a government shutdown

Many government functions.......contracts, R&D, public assistance, legal, budget work on a monthly or fiscal year timeline. Their absence is not felt for months but it still costs money

everybody is still doing fine.

Except, of course, millions of federal employees who would not have an income over that period.

Dope.

Government not handing out pork contracts, no assisting the public who should be assisting themselves, not passing laws, and not figuring out how to spend more money? Sounds like the best idea yet.

What else can we stop them from doing?

Thats a very good point, too. It costs more to shut it down than to keep it running.
Thats BAD for business. The fed govt is TOO BIG. Completely dysfunctional.
Thank you for bringing that up ;)

Bull shit. All that’s a lie. Every food stamp recipient gets their stuff. All Medicaid and Medicare stuff still gets processed. Every federal employee (leach) gets payed on time for every hour worked. Those who get sent him (which all should) won’t get paired or diddnt when it happened to us. But then if you don’t work you don’t deserve money.
