Some of the Democratic Party’s most endangered lawmakers are taking steps to distance themselves from Speaker Nancy Pelosi in an attempt to inoculate themselves from charges that they are beholden to the unpopular House leader and supportive of the ambitious national Democratic agenda.

Three vulnerable Democrats from conservative-oriented districts are already running TV ads spotlighting their defiance of Pelosi. One freshman incumbent recently joked about the possibility of Pelosi not being able to take up the gavel next year because she might pass away. Another member from a tough district suggested he might run for speaker himself.

The roster of Democrats currently playing six degrees of separation from Pelosi spans the map, from the Northeast to the South and across the Midwest to South Dakota.

The GOP has used Pelosi, who represents a liberal San Francisco congressional district, as a wedge against vulnerable Democrats for almost as long as she has been in Democratic leadership. But with Election Day just nine weeks away, the sprint away from the House speaker highlights the increasing urgency with which the party’s most vulnerable legislators are trying to prove their independence from Democratic leaders and the Capitol Hill agenda that has defined President Barack Obama’s first term in office.

Now that SCREAMS desperation. Liberals know they are in BIG trouble with the electorate and now they are trying ANYTHING to keep their cushy jobs.

It's pretty funny that they went along with Pelosi when they thought they could cram legislation down our throats and we would just have to lump it.

But NOW that the election is looming, all of a sudden they aren't so comfortable going along with Pelosi.

I warned this two years ago and I will warn you all again. November 2010 is coming!

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Yes, it's unfortunate they weren't this "tough" when it mattered for America, not just now when it matters for their own ambitions.
Fuckin' hypocrites.

And frankly, I don't think it's going to help them.

And voters have to be really STUPID to have seen the arrogance in which Democrats voted with Pelosi, to believe they want to separate from her now.

I don't think enough voters are that guillible for this tactic to work.

;)

Pelosi has done a better job than Denny Hastert (Does anyone even remember who the Republican Speaker was?)

She did great work in forging a compromise to get the Healthcare Bill passed. It was one of the greatest achievements by a speaker in decades.

She serves a purpose for the Democrats. She stands up as a target of rightwing wrath and takes alot of the abuse that would have been directed elsewhere

Great Work??

Compromise??

WOW Is that what you call bribing and threatening her members to pass that BS bill??

A bill that the majority of Americans didn't want??

A bill that has no reform, no lowering of cost.

A bill that adds millions to the rolls and increases costs to anyone with coverage??

Yep. She's a winner all right.

Pelosi is a loon, and should never be allowed near a reporter again. But still rightwinger has a point...she must be hell on wheels behind closed doors. And Claudette, you might want to study up on the health care law before hollaring that the sky is falling.

Just sayin'.....

Thats the way bills get passed. it has worked this way for 200 years.

The bill is far from perfect. Its weaknesses show the impact of having to compromise on key aspects like single payer and Govt Option

It was still a major piece of legislation for both Pelosi and Reid

What did the Republicans do?

Oh yes....They said Fuck you America, we are not lifting a finger to help fix healthcare

Nah.

If memory serves the Reps did have ideas to to reform HC. I do believe it was the Dems, with the majority, who said Fuck You to any ideas the Reps had. They didn't need the Reps at all to pass the bill.

Again, if memory serves, they had to bribe their own member to pass it.

Pelosi is a crazy bitch. The Dums in Congress believed her, voted for her, supported her, and supported her legislation.
Now it's time for them to reap what they've sown. Buh bye.

Yes they did......The bill that passed was based on Republican legislation

They still voted against their own proposals

You're joking,r ight? There wasnt a single substantive GOP idea in the whole mess. That's why they all voted against it. Every last one.

When the Republicans are at an historic high on the Generic Ballot, I'm just saying, Miss Hell on Wheels has led her party on the Titanic.

Typical elitist ruling class attitude.

Since WHEN is it the business of the Congress to "FIX" healthcare?

Where does it say in the Constitution they should "fix" it.

And what kind of "crisis" in this country makes it necessary to make a "fix" that is worse than so called "crisis" in the first place?

Just stupid!

Be my guest...

Run on taking away healthcare for 30 million Americans, return to bans on pre-existing conditions, take away healthcare pools

Hellooooooooooooooooooo, many of those things you are complaining about came to be, because of EARLIER big government ideas to "fix" healthcare, like managed healthcare.

Most of the "crisis" liberals claim we are in, came from their own BIG IDEAS to fix healthcare, starting with Medicare and going on through HMOs and so on.

All of these problems WERE CREATED by Big Government, and a BIGGER GOVERNMENT Law is going to solve it?

It's absolutely ludicrous and shows you have no idea what you are talking about.

It's just the usual elite attitude of "have a problem, pass a law!" Regardless of whether that law will simply create bigger problems.

Bigger problems? Pass another law!

It's mindless!
