Our television and radio signals have reached the nearest stars in a spherical volume around the Earth. Don't know how many that is, but it's a lot. If there are advanced races nearby, with FTL travel, we would have been obliterated by now. I mean, look at the crap we have on TV. No way they'd allow us to infect the rest of the Galaxy.

I'm not sure the physics of you scenario is entirely correct. I don't believe there is any time difference from traveling though what I'm assuming is a wormhole unless one end is accelerated to a high velocity and looped back but that would just cause time dilation.. I'm not sure of the math but the time passed on your hypothetical ship would still be significantly longer than a human lifespan.
