Since airplane is one of the most widely used, needed, forms of travel in Alaska, just by the number of planes in the air, and how unpredictable and unforgiving the weather can be in Alaska, there's hundreds of plane crashes every year.

Would never want to live up there myself. Between the massive amount of earth quakes, the no sun AT ALL in the winter for weeks, the cold, the isolation... no thanks.

I suspect that Alaskan pilots get so used to being the only plane around, none of them pay much attention to traffic.
