Steve Garvey, the celebrity candidate angling to fill the late Sen. Diane Feinstein's seat, is deep in the whole with state and federal taxes.

Garvey, a Los Angeles Dodger and San Diego Padres great, owes at least $350,000 and as much as $750,000 in back taxes dating over a decade ago, according to his February financial disclosure statement listing two estimated six-figure amounts and first reported by The Sacramento Bee.

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics' research director Robert Maguire suggested that the substantial tax liability for a senate hopeful is rare.

PIker, compared to Nadler, and he keeps getting elected.

Adam Schiff Earmarked Millions To His Defense Contractor Donors

Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff of California, who is running for the Senate in 2024, doled out $10 million through earmarks to defense contractors that donated to his campaigns, according to a report published on Monday by Politico.

Schiff, who is running against fellow Democratic Reps. Katie Porter and Barbara Lee, earmarked over $10 million of taxpayer money to five companies to develop military technologies between 2001 and 2007. These companies were found to have donated tens of thousands of dollars to his campaign, according to a review of earmark records by Politico.

We were always concerned about the pay-to-play aspects,” wrote Steve Ellis, who runs the group “Taxpayers of Common Sense,” of Schiff’s earmarks, to Politico. “If you’re getting a campaign contribution and getting your earmark for that same company or for a client of that lobbyist, it has that perception.”
Does Adam owe $750K in back taxes?

Does Adam owe $750K in back taxes?
What would you prefer as a taxpayer, a guy owe the government $750k in back taxes as a private citizen or a politician who has for decades made a great salary on the backs of the taxpayer AND, in that short period ALONE in one specific set of instances, hand out $10M to his donors as a sort of slush fund? Paid for by, you guessed it; the same taxpayers.

Can't answer? Go figure.

Which has nothing to do at all with Garvey's $750K in taxes. I'm pretty fucking sure ReNaziKlan Senator's and Congress People use their earmarks, it figures you would ignore that.

Schiff affiliated PAC's funded Garvey's campaign so Schiff wouldn't have to face a democrat in the November election.

It would be hilarious if Garvey beats him. Schiff is such a worm.

Thanks for reporting was is one the most openly known secret in California.

Garvey has little chance of winning anyway.

That's pitiful. How could a guy who made so much money end up owing such a huge amount in back taxes? Did the state GOP vet Garvey? Or did they decide to overlook this black mark because of his obvious name recognition in the state?

I wouldn't say that his tax delinquency disqualifies him or that he should withdraw, but it certainly raises questions about his judgment and ethics.

Another Republican neophyte unfit for public office.

I think they see him as (pun intended) a sacrifice fly. They needed to put a body for the election and there were no big name Republicans who have been interested in running.

Registered Republicans in California are rougly 25% to 27% of the states population. I spoke with a long time Republican who left the party after E. Jean Carroll and Dodds. Lois could not bring herself to for him. She tells me Republican Registration in California is trending down.

I prefer a person with experience over some one time sports star who is very easy to manipulate.

Yes, we know the drill. Republicans will have every little aspect of their history scrutinized while Democrats can get away with murder.

Under P01135809, over 500,000 Americans died from COVID. His inaction lead thousands of Americans to die. He is single greatest mass murdere in our country's history.

P01135809 attacked Gold Star Familes, you people did nothing.

P01135809 called the Americans Military Personnel who Killed In Action, "Suckers and Losers" and you people did nothing.

P01135809 literally skated on his attacks of the Gold Star Families and his heinous abuse and disparaging remarks about U.S. War dead. you people let him get away with it.
