Well, it seems that someone is going to rewrite the whole Nativity story. Minister and academic Reverend Ian Paul insists Jesus Christ was not born in a stable, but in a family home.

According to a scholar, a common misconception was caused by a wrong ranslation of the original Greek text. He argues that Jesus’ birth did not take place amid farm animals in a barn or stable, but actually in a family house full of relatives.

He claims that the snag is in the Greek word ‘kataluma’ which was wrongly translated as ‘inn’ instead of ‘private room’ or ‘lodging’. Such version of translation fundamentally changes the whole story...

It could be that the Bethlehem story is a later poetic insertion
for reason.. The "messiah" according to biblical prophecy---
must be "of the house of David" meaning a Judean--descendant of David David was born in Bethlehem. He is supposed to enter Jerusalem on a donkey. I see no reason why a pregnant lady about to pop ------had to travel to Bethlehem
in order to accomplish a census. Pregnant ladies in those
days -----who were about to pop-----stayed in the homes of
their relatives. They did not undertake totally unnecessary
long trips on donkey back to give birth-----sans mother and
sisters. The idea that all Judeans traveled to the towns of their ancestors for every census----is a bit weird
