The “justice system” in America has always been “corrupt,” capitalism has always been “unfair,” the people have always had legitimate grievances.

At best, this is a relative question. You are looking at it through your own crazy partisan lens, seeking a “yes or no” answer that will give you a “moral imperative” to vote again for Donald Trump — the most divisive and criminal American President in our entire history.

Most Americans today are far richer, fatter, more “spoiled,” and less responsible than in the past. Social problems today are greater, economic differences between the wealthy and ordinary working-class people are greater than they have been in a century, and communities are more divided, with even middle class retirees now living in “gated communities.”

The overcoming of Jim Crow was a great objective step forward for ”Justice” in the U.S.A. But it and the reality of immigration, the closing of old industries, changing job requirements in the new economy, and dramatic cultural change left lower and even middle-class whites insecure as their politicians whipped up white fears into a frenzy. They also face the reality of crime and social decay, even in small cities and towns, far more directly than 100 years ago.

Many want to return to a “justice system” they associate with the past, when their parents or grandparents seemed to have more optimism and better prospects and the country was in fact dominating the whole capitalist world. Those days, or the days we remember, were days when both parties worked together more harmoniously, and the FBI mostly only seemed to pursue “communists,” or the Italian mafia, or “black radicals.”
