The hammer and sickle is only ok if worn ironically or in reference to "The Americans" tv show.

The problem with the rebel flag is how certain people used it. It is used by white power groups, it was used by people and state governments who were upset about civil rights movement, and was also used by an evil treasonous south. The use of the flag by the Dukes brothers was fine.

Consider how many millions of people were systematically killed by their own government for even the suspicion of sedition under the hammer and sickle of the USSR and the Confederate flag seems not so bad.
