In terms of accusations of hate and racism, the Right definitely gets more than its share. However, when it comes to actually acting on hate and racism, and exploiting both, the Democrats are the worst by a long shot.

Civil Rights Act- passed by Democrats. To be more specific- the 1964 Civil Rights Act was proposed by JFK, and then pushed by LBJ- both Democrats- it was pushed through Congress by Democrats, with Republican support. More Democrats voted for the Act than Republicans. The Act was opposed by every Southern Democrat- and Republican.
Some of the first Republicans were black- and now most Blacks are Democrats- clearly African Americans changed- as the Democratic and Republican Parties changed.

This isn't a matter of who is president. The president doesn't bring us together. We have been dividing long before Bush was president. We've been dividing since the 60s.

I would say that 911 did not bring us together at all. There was a brief moment of collective shock. Then Ward Churchill called the dead little Eichmans and liberals mostly agreed that we asked for it.

not like today....we have 300 million people on many different pages...the 2 sides used to be able to just talk loud to each other....then it got to wear you had yell for the different sides to hear each other.....then it got to where there was a large gap between the sides (Clinton) then it got to where there was a large chasm (Bush) between the sides now under Obama it has become the Grand Canyon..... unless the next person is a REAL leader and can get this Country back together it wont look to well for this countries future ....and i dont see any on the horizon.....just a bunch of lackey politicians.....more of the same old me,my party and maybe the country bullshit........

It's crystal clear that it's the EXPECTATIONS of the people that the problems stem from. The country was setup on COMPROMISE. Therfore, if the PEOPLE are becoming less and less comprising, then the division will become greater and greater. Check your expectations.
