In 1948 there were a pair of tragedies as people were forced out of their homes. The Arabs were stuffed into refugee camps and left to rot. The jews were integrated into the state. They make about half of the current population.

The uprooting of the Jews from Arab countries

"Whereas the Palestinians refugees numbered 650,000 in 1948, the Jewish refugees from Arab countries numbered 850,000 (UNRWA statistics). The Jewish property, both private and communal, sequestered by Arab governments when the Jews were forced to leave was much vaster than that left behind by the Palestinians in Israel (documented by the International Court at The Hague).

There was practically an ethnic cleansing of Jews in Arab countries. Very few Jews are left in these countries today. Egyptian Jewry, for instance, numbered 100,000 in 1948, but there are only 28 Jews in the whole of Egypt today, and only 22 Jews remain in the whole of Iraq of the 1948 population of 160,000. In Syria and Lebanon there are no Jews left.

On the other hand, there was no ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in Israel; there are a million Arab/Palestinian citizens living in Israel today, constituting 20% of Israel’s citizens."

And where it gets better, is that with all that 'ethnic cleansing' by Israel, there are millions of Palestinian 'refugees' today.

And where it gets better, is that with all that 'ethnic cleansing' by Israel, there are millions of Palestinian 'refugees' today.
There was little ethnic cleansing by Israel, and today, there are only a few Palestinian refugees; all the others are descendants of refugees.

Yet the special agency of the UN, the UNWRA, is setup solely for the Palestinian 'refugees' and say they number in the millions.

The rest of the story is that for many years, the Israeli government bribed the jews in arab countries with large sums of money and free housing to immigrate to Israel.

Then to garner sympathy in the western media, Israel lied and claimed the jews were being ethnically cleansed from arab lands. ....

The sooner we stop dividing this world up by who believes which un-provable ancient story of origins and after-life and start looking forward, the sooner Our Children will begin their journey to the stars in earnest.

It's time to bury The God of Abraham, as described in The Torah, The New Testament and The Qur'an, with Abraham and celebrate The God of (insert your name here).

What does this have to do with the price of tea in China? The OP is about the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians and Jews, not the Gd of Abraham, or the Afterlife and stars.

According to tradition, The God of Abraham, as described in The Torah, The New Testament and The Qur'an is the GOAL, man!

All I'm saying is that seeking The God of Abraham via ancient Arab stories does not seem to be leading humanity towards harmony, peace and love, and humanity needs a new goal.

My 2 cents: Investing in the future via our kids and betting on them to reach the stars seems more productive than avenging the past by inflicting abominations on each other simply because our ancestors inflicted abominations on each other chasing the elusive God of an ancient Arab named Abraham.

Arab stories? Torah is not an Arab story.
Does the Torah or the NT call Abraham an Arab?

Amazing.

50 years of Arabs saying that Adam and Eve were Muslims, Moses was a Muslim, Cleopatra was an Arab, Jesus was a Palestinian.

No wonder people like this poster simply flip eventually.

The world has gone mad.

Couldn't erase Jews by genocide so now trying to erase their existence with vile lies.

Clearly, the UN is an unreliable source for information on this issue.

Arab stories? Torah is not an Arab story.

Doesn't matter what the label is.... it doesn't change the stupid history of humanity chasing The God first defined among its pages.

Why THE Creator of The Universe would choose to single out the family of one ancient Arab over all the other humans who've ever lived a life on earth sounds more like ancient Arab ego to me than communication from "God". And human history is naught but a documentation of the abject cruelty inflicted by humans on humans on a dog-eat-dog world, and all this in spite of the supposed interventions that Abraham's God has made to our TimeLine.

History is all the proof I need to declare that ALL of the religions that are based on the three ancient tales that describe The God of Abraham are at best bullshit, and at worse tools, worn shiny from successful use in the hands of Evil.

You are clearly a peace monger who understands nothing about human nature.

If none of those religions existed, there would still be all the violence and need to control as much territory as possible from some groups of people.

Absolutely it has been a dog eat dog world, and the Christian and Muslim dogs are intent on eating the Jews for dessert.

This time the Jews got one better from the other two.

And this thread is about the Nakbas.

Anything to say about that?

Well, that explains North Korea and Russia.
Actually, it doesn’t.

One does tend to forget another "Nakba".

The Jews of Judea, Samaria and the Jewish Quarter were systematically attacked and expelled from their homes under the Jordanian/British attack on them in 1948.

And one should also not forget another "Nakba" for the Jewish People when they were attacked and expelled from their homes, businesses and lands in TranJordan where they had also lived for the past 3000 years plus. And let us add Hevron and Sfad in 1929.

All of those were tragedies inflicted on the Jewish population by the Arab Muslims with the intention of keeping the Jews from ever being sovereign again on their own ancient homeland.

It is not just a matter of thousands of Arabs being told or expelled due to a war started by the Arabs, and the Thousands of Jews expelled from Arab conquered lands.

Never has been.

RE: Brief reminder of two "Nabka"s.
※→ et al,

Sometimes, we seem to forget where the status of the issues stands on Arab-Israeli Peace. I think I see Israel through the same lens as the Secretary-General; as opposed to the tint and obscurity of frustration and hatred through the fog of the great "catastrophe."

THE SECRETARY-GENERAL -- SPEECH AT THE MUSEUM OF THE JEWISH PEOPLE Tel Aviv said:
Yet I believe there is no alternative to a negotiated solution between the two parties.

It is equally clear that we in the international community cannot simply turn away and allow the situation to deteriorate. We have a role and a responsibility to support the parties in resolving this conflict.

The basic premise has not changed – this land is the ancestral homeland of two peoples.

Both have an undeniable historic and religious bond with it; both have a right to live on it independently and as a free people, as masters of their own fate.

Anyone visiting Israel is left with no doubt that it has fulfilled the rights and national aspirations of Jews throughout generations.

Your country has become renowned worldwide for its great cultural, scientific, technological and scholarly achievements.
(COMMENT)

There is only a "catastrophe" if one chooses to wrap themselves in that dirty blanket. If one gets up in the morning with no greater ambition than to pick at the scab to make the shadow Nabka bleed even more, then it is a sign.

Every time we observe the reality of the pro-Palestinian, the Arab Palestinian that follows the tenants found in their charters and policies, we detect a suspiciousness and a deep mistrust of Jews and anyone that dares to stand and support the Jewish People. Every time we observe a paranoid Arab Palestinian who often think of Jews as manipulative, cunning or dishonest. This kind of a person may appear are exploiting, harming, or deceiving him or her. When they have become excessively critical of fellow Americans who have chose to stand up for the Jews, a proPalestinian observer claiming unjustified doubts about the loyalty or trustworthiness of those that have Jewish friends or associates, then we see the true nature of the sociological and psychological damage done to them.

We must not become too entangled with the Arab Palestinians that persistently is unforgiving and replies in terms of insults, injuries, or slights.

Most Respectfully,
R

`

No. Actually it matters a great deal what the label is. I'm not going to let you get away with erasing the Jewish people as though they did not and do not exist.

I don't care what you think of G-d or any of the religions. One of the issues of the conflict is that some erase the Jewish people as an ethnic/cultural group, as an indigenous peoples and as a group with rights to a nation.

There is NO religious reason for the Jewish people to have sovereign territory in the form of a State. There IS a humanitarian reason.
