95% say we need tax reform

Whatever money you want to give small businesses because they are paying more than the BIG businesses in taxes should be offset by raising the taxes on the BIG business to fund the tax break on the small businesses. In no way should a tax break be given otherwise....not with our deficit and National Debt.
That's the most convoluted diatribe of stupid I've seen here for a while. Please continue.
The ''complaint'' in the op was that some small businesses pay a higher percentage in taxes than Big Corps pay in taxes....

IF that is truly the ''case'' then the problem could be fixed by doing a shift in tax code, where the Big Corp does pay more than the Small Business...

More than likely, the 'big corp' pays less because they lobbied and donated to congress and got a ''favor''...., lower taxes than a small business person...

take that ''favor'' away and you'll have the money to give small businesses more of a tax break, that they deserve or ''want''.

it has to be revenue neutral, it's the law now, so it has to come from somewhere.

We can't lose any of the taxes we are collecting, we need every dime and some... with the boomers retiring and us having to pay back what congress essentially borrowed from Social Security the past few decades, let alone the $450 billion we are paying a year now for just the interest on the National debt....

About 70% of small businesses are sole proprietors, one man businesses...and most all of those one man small business operations made less than 25k a year....

These ''small business'' tax breaks talked about in the article from the OP will NOT help any of these 70%....

This ''tax break'' for ''small businesses'' is just a guise....it's those small businesses making millions in profit, the ones that are just a handful at the very top income of small businesses that pay this ''higher rate'' than big corps pay... who Donate and Lobby that are pushing congress for more tax breaks... the bulk of small businesses will get nothing... mark my words.

So you're for a flat tax. No deductions no special circumstances just a flat tax on profit's set at a low and reasonable rate.

Go to a simple flat tax....everyone wins....

A flat tax is a tax cut for the richer and a tax hike for the poorer.

Of course conservatives want that.

Not with a starting point of 30-40,000 dollars...no one pays till they reach that point....and on a flat tax, the rich still pay more....that should make all you types filled with hate and jealousy that someone has earned more than you.....but sadly...hate and jealousy are rarely sated by fairness....

and how do you keep the politicians who take our money and grant it to their donors from doing that with any new money you give them....the politicians will still be bought....

How do you implement your fantasy when the same crooks who got us into this mess with their corruption are still in charge of spending the money....

You have to cut the money off.......

You can't replace a progressive tax with a flat tax and end up with the rich paying more, unless everyone is paying more.

But all you care about is fairness right...

what is unfair about everyone paying the same rate....the poor pay less the rich pay more...and if you make less than 30-40 grand...you don't pay any....

As fair as you can make the system?...

But fair isn't what you care about....you hate that people who work really hard and are successful will still have more left over...that hate and jealousy will eat you up...let it go...

I think it is time to raise the tax rates to where they were in 1970 on everyone within the top 5%. At the same time we need to tariff imports and favor competition. This is the only way we can turn this ship around.

If the same tax deductions that existed in 1970 went along with that 1970 tax rate, it would probably benefit the top 5%.

The rich pay the same marginal rate on their first 20,000 as do the not-rich.

"It’s worth noting that, under our current system, the tax rate on small businesses is even higher than it is for large ones. Thanks in part to the 2013 tax increases and to Obamacare, the top federal rate on small business income is 43.4 percent, versus 35 percent for large corporations. This needs to change."

If by tax reform they mean throw out all existing tax laws and make one new one with just a flat 15% or so rate for everyone, then yes. :)

What they should do is what Gingrich proposed...phase out the old system by allowing a choice.....you can go the old way...and see how you do...or you can take your income, and fill out the post card by taking 15% of what you made....

Let people choose...that is what the left babbles about all the time...right? That is fair....right?

Progressive tax only makes sense if you're Robin Hood. But taxking more for those who earn more doesn't make sense to the ones who make more. They interpret it as taxing success which it of course is. Just because someone has more doesn't mean they should be taxed more. If everyone isn't taxed at the same rate it's fundamental unfair.

Horse crap. The poor lose, as always.

How do you figure they lose by living in a country built mostly with other people's money?

And the right to live here was built completely with other people's blood.
You're a taker too, you silly child. You didn't earn that. I didn't. Neither did anyone alive today. we were born into it

We all have our freedom payed for with other people's blood.

Why is that an acceptable reality, but everyone paying taxes towards the cause of building this country is 'socialism'?

I love the illogical foundings of the 'conservative movement' in this country today..
