95% say we need tax reform

Progressive tax only makes sense if you're Robin Hood. But taxking more for those who earn more doesn't make sense to the ones who make more. They interpret it as taxing success which it of course is. Just because someone has more doesn't mean they should be taxed more. If everyone isn't taxed at the same rate it's fundamental unfair.

Hypothetically, why shouldn't the American government be allowed to tax your success, if your success was achieved in part because of the American government protecting your rights to attempt to be successful.

You don't just get to work towards being successful because you're born into the world. You get to because you're born (or move to) the United States.

Taxation at its simplest is legalized theft. So taxing variable different amounts based on income is just doubling down on the immorality of taxation. Instead of that they should make taxation evenly applied as with the same rate for everyone regardless.

As we see in the Equal Accomodaiton Clause, it's not discrimination if a businesses' policy is applied to all. If a business has different standards for different people then it is discriminatory. So if taxation is different for different income groups it's discriminatory too. And thus should be illegal.

Because taxing according to you means IS FAIR....

it would be UNFAIR if you taxed a poorer person, (at the same percentage as the millionaires highest bracket) who needs every penny of their income to provide food and shelter for his family.

The tax rate for income brackets IS THE SAME FOR EVERYONE that has earned income in that bracket range....

The millionaire only pays 10% in taxes on the money he earned that falls in to the first income bracket, just as the poor man does.

The millionaire pays 15% in taxes on the money he earned that falls in to the second income bracket, just as the lower to middle class man who earns taxable income that falls in to the second income bracket.

the millionaire DOES NOT PAY MORE THAN ANY ONE OF US, for the income he has earned that falls in to ALL the lower income brackets.

If ANY ONE OF US earns more income and with some of it falling in to a higher income tax bracket for those earnings, then ONLY for those earnings that fall in to the next up income tax bracket, we will have to pay the higher rate....SAME as everyone who has income in that tax bracket range.

It's as FAIR as it can get....

OTHER THAN all the deductions that are a pile 10 foot high...

The progressive income tax should be a Flat tax in each bracket with no deductions for anyone other than the Standard deduction/personal exemption...THIS IS HOW our progressive income tax began, with a standard deduction worth about $65,000 a person in today's dollars...then the 2 tax brackets as income got higher.

This bull crap of trying to make everyone that is poor to have some "skin in the game" has come with a SELFISH society that has recently gone ape shit.

What do liberals want?

a socialist commie like country !!

Major tax cuts for small business. Some exemptions on regulations would be helpful as well.

Go to a simple flat tax....everyone wins....

A flat tax is a tax cut for the richer and a tax hike for the poorer.

Of course conservatives want that.

Not with a starting point of 30-40,000 dollars...no one pays till they reach that point....and on a flat tax, the rich still pay more....that should make all you types filled with hate and jealousy that someone has earned more than you.....but sadly...hate and jealousy are rarely sated by fairness....

Even in retirement, I am sure that I am in the Board's top 1% bracket, and I know that a flat tax or a value added tax will hurt the poor. 2aguy know it, too.

2aguy is a Rushbot "interpreter" trying to change the definitions and narratives that are American. No flat tax will ever be enacted in the next three life times.

The millennials simply will not permit it.

I swing right and I still don't believe in a flat tax. The flat tax would have to be very high. I however do think we should decrease government spending across the board while leaving taxes about the same cause of the deficit... I can deal with shittier roads.

But all you care about is fairness right...

what is unfair about everyone paying the same rate....the poor pay less the rich pay more...and if you make less than 30-40 grand...you don't pay any....

As fair as you can make the system?...

But fair isn't what you care about....you hate that people who work really hard and are successful will still have more left over...that hate and jealousy will eat you up...let it go...

Everybody does pay the same rate in same bracket.

Okay, so what's your better alternative to taxation?

We should have a lower tax rate for corporations. There should be a higher tax rate for the wealthy people who run them, on the owners (our) behalf.
