Aaaaaand the denier cultists go wild, in an explosion of lies, myths and raw insanity...as their demented cult of reality denial crumbles around them in a rapidly warming world, and slides down the poopchute into the septic tank of history, alongside the Flat Earth Society.

2014 was the most recent 'hottest year on record', surpassing the previous 'hottest year on record', 2014, by a wide margin, and the previous to that 'hottest years on record', in order - 2010 - 2013 - 2005 - and 2009 tied with 1998. The first two months of 2016 have been the warmest months of that name on record, and indications are that 2016 will turn out to be even hotter than the record shattering 2015.

By election time in November, after enormous heat waves this summer, it will be so completely obvious to the general public that the Republican global warming/climate change denying retards running for President and Congress are insane liars, that your party will go down in flames.

The 10 Hottest Years on Record
Climate Central
Jan 20th, 2016
NOAA and NASA jointly released their global temperature data, making it official: 2015 was the hottest year on record (since 1880). The previous hottest year was 2014, and the last time back-to-back hottest years occurred were 2006-07. In fact, the top 10 hottest years have all happened since 1998.

The record was not close. With a global temperature that was 1.62°F above the 20th century average, 2015 was way ahead of the previous 5 hottest years. The previous number 1 year, 2014, was only 1.33°F above average. This 2015 record comes as no surprise as the globe had its hottest spring, summer, and fall on record.

The record heat of 2015 adds to other long term warming trends. Of the hottest years on record, 15 out of 17 have come since 2000. By contrast, more than a century has gone by since the planet had a record cold year (1911). In addition, this marks 39 years in a row with above average global temperatures and 372 months in a row with global temperatures above average.

While there has been some speculation that El Niño is main factor behind 2015’s record warmth, it had only a minor impact. The continued buildup of greenhouse gases from fossil fuel emissions has kept the globe on a long term warming trend for more than a century. A recent attribution study found that El Niño provided only a little nudge to 2015.

Ok, so it was hot. Again I ask the real question, the one that you easily duped idiots can't answer:

So what?

The problem is that there are two different discussions that the warmists like to jump back and forth on in order to spin their opinions out of a hole. The first is wether or not the planet's climate is warming, and the other is the more important argument; if man has anything to do with it.

Warmists will flip from one to the other to avoid the truth.

All your "hottest year on record" claims are based on NASA data that has been proven to be doctored. They have no credibility whatsoever.

Then, Paddie, you ignorant trollop, you'll have no difficulty presenting us that PROOF.

Now why would you pick those particular locations?

I didn't pick them. There the ones I've seen in articles about NCDC data being manipulated. They're are probably some of the most egregious examples.

It wasn't because they're predominantly black areas? That was certainly the impression conveyed.

I'd like to see articles identifying African villages, slums of India, Alabama, Mississippi and the Southside of Chicago as climate hotspots where the NCDC has falsified data. Do you have a link?

Global Warming Surge May Defeat Great Barrier Reef's Natural Defenses...

Global Warming Surge May Rout Great Barrier Reef's Natural Defenses
April 14, 2016 — A heat surge from global warming would overwhelm the natural ability of coral in Australia's Great Barrier Reef to survive seasonal temperature changes, in much the way sunbathers would burn if they did not build their tan slowly.
A study released Thursday examined 27 years of temperature data along the world's biggest reef. It found that corals were able to cope with gains in water temperatures when the heat built up step-by-step, rather than abruptly. In three-quarters of 372 cases studied along the reef, water temperatures gained and then dipped for about 10 days before rising to a peak high enough to kill corals, the study found. That 10-day respite apparently let the corals build up resistance and survive warm shocks.

Bleaching on a coral reef at Halfway Island in Australia's Great Barrier Reef.

But corals suffered far more damage in the quarter of cases when temperatures rose sharply, to above local temperature thresholds for damage along the 1,600-mile (2,575-km) reef, researchers wrote in the journal Science. The safer pattern was like a human sun-worshipper lying in the sun for short periods to build a tan and avoid sunburn, said co-author Scott Heron of the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Impact of global warming

Global warming would eliminate the natural resistance to heat shocks, the study said, because direct rises to harmful temperatures would become more frequent, they wrote. "Near-future increases in local temperature of as little as 0.5 degree Celsius [0.9 Fahrenheit] result in this protective mechanism being lost, which may increase the rate of degradation of the Great Barrier Reef," they wrote. Corals — tiny animals with stony skeletons — suffer bleaching when temperatures rise because the colorful algae that live with them and provide food die off. Reefs can sometimes recover from short-term bleachings, but die if they persist.

Worldwide, last year was the warmest since records began in the 19th century, boosted by man-made activities and an El Nino event in the Pacific. A U.N. report in 2014 said there were already early warning signs that warm water corals and the Arctic, where ice is melting, were experiencing irreversible changes. Lead author Tracy Ainsworth of the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies at James Cook University said it was unclear if the same heat resistance applied to other reefs from Indonesia to Belize. The study suggested more efforts to reduce other threats to the reef, such as industrial pollution.

Bleaching likely to destroy half the coral...

Half Australia's Great Barrier Reef coral 'dead or dying': scientists
April 20, 2016 - Australian scientists said on Wednesday that just seven percent of the Great Barrier Reef, which attracts around A$5 billion ($3.90 billion) in tourism every year, has been untouched by mass bleaching that is likely to destroy half the coral.
Bleaching occurs when the water is too warm, forcing coral to expel living algae and causing it to calcify and turn white. Mildly bleached coral can recover if the temperature drops, otherwise it may die. Although the impact has been exacerbated by one of the strongest El Nino weather systems in nearly 20 years, scientists believe climate change is the underlying cause. "We've never seen anything like this scale of bleaching before. In the northern Great Barrier Reef, it's like 10 cyclones have come ashore all at once," said Professor Terry Hughes, conveyor of the National Coral Bleaching Taskforce, which conducted aerial surveys of the World Heritage site. "Our estimate at the moment is that close to 50 percent of the coral is already dead or dying," Hughes told Reuters.

The Great Barrier Reef stretches 2,300 km (1,430 miles) along Australia's northeast coast and is the world's largest living ecosystem. "There were some who said that the worst had passed. We rejected that, and they were wrong," Environment Minister Greg Hunt told reporters. "Let it be known that this is a significant event. We take it seriously." U.S. President Barack Obama embarrassed Australia 18 months ago by warning of the risk of climate change to the reef during a G20 meeting. UNESCO's World Heritage Committee last May stopped short of placing the Great Barrier Reef on an "in danger" list, but the ruling raised long-term concerns about its future. Australia is one of the largest carbon emitters capita because of its reliance on coal-fired power plants for electricity.

Despite pledging to cut carbon emissions, Australia has continued to support fossil fuel projects, including Adani Enterprises Ltd's proposed A$10 billion ($7.7 billion) Carmichael coal project in the Galilee Basin in western Queensland. "It’s not good enough for them to say they care about the reef while they keep backing the coal industry and avoid tackling climate change,” said Shani Tager, a Greenpeace campaigner. The findings will likely place pressure on Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull ahead of an expected federal election on July 2. Turnbull is an advocate of carbon trading and supports progressive climate policies, but has left some disappointed over a failure to strengthen his party's commitment to addressing climate change.

Resistance and Resilience to Coral Bleaching: Implications for Coral Reef Conservation and Management - West - 2003 - Conservation Biology - Wiley Online Library

Abstract:
The massive scale of the 1997–1998 El Niño–associated coral bleaching event underscores the need for strategies to mitigate biodiversity losses resulting from temperature-induced coral mortality. As baseline sea surface temperatures continue to rise, climate change may represent the single greatest threat to coral reefs worldwide. In response, one strategy might be to identify ( 1 ) specific reef areas where natural environmental conditions are likely to result in low or negligible temperature-related bleaching and mortality ( i.e., areas of natural “resistance” to bleaching ) and ( 2 ) reef areas where environmental conditions are likely to result in maximum recovery of reef communities after bleaching mortality has occurred ( i.e., areas of natural community “resilience” ). These “target areas,” where environmental conditions appear to boost resistance and resilience during and after large-scale bleaching events, could then be incorporated into strategic networks of marine protected areas designed to maximize conservation of global coral reef biodiversity. Based on evidence from the literature and systematically compiled observations from researchers in the field, this paper identifies likely environmental correlates of resistance and resilience to coral bleaching, including factors that reduce temperature stress, enhance water movement, decrease light stress, correlate with physiological tolerance, and provide physical or biological enhancement of recovery potential. As a tool for identifying reef areas that are likely to be most robust in the face of continuing climate change and for determining priority areas for reducing direct anthropogenic impacts, this information has important implications for coral reef conservation and management.

Yes, there are some areas where the coral is resistant, and resilient areas, as well. And then there are areas where the coral just plain dies. This is a plan to begin to identify which areas are which, and preserve those areas most likely to survive.
well if it was an issue back in the 90s then how is it it made it to 2016?

Are you saying that reducing CO2 levels in our atmosphere won't reduce temperatures?
I'll say that. Yep reducing CO2 levels will not change temperatures but will kill plant life. I have the eighteen years of statistics of a pause proving temperatures are unaffected by an increase of CO2. So a decrease will not do anything either.

All your "hottest year on record" claims are based on NASA data that has been proven to be doctored. They have no credibility whatsoever.

LOLOLOLOL......and, of course, the denier cultists insanely try to push their ridiculous crackpot conspiracy theories to explain why the science is completely against them and their insane denial of reality.

There are four major groups that use both ground measurements and satellites to compute the planet’s average temperature. In addition to NASA, these are the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in the U.S., the Japan Meteorological Agency, and the Hadley Center in the U.K.. All agree on the recent 'hottest years on record', with only subtle differences in their analysis of the data.

The Republicans are in a death spiral.....and it is only going to get more and more obvious as their ideologically driven insanity on AGW/CC and a host of other issues, like gun control, gets more and more obvious to everybody else in the country.
death spiral? Death Spiral? Playoffs, Playoffs? What the fk is a death spiral? explain this terminology for me. you think republicans are dying? your post was unclear on what is causing this death spiral and what it looks like.
