75 years ago today FDR's executive order 9066

Remember at the time the Japanese were a horrible machine of death. Suicide attacks, no respect for rules of war, tons of atrocities. They were probably worse than the fascists.

Who? The American citizens in fdr's concentration camps?
The Japanese Americans had it good. ....

What a disgusting, anti-American load of crap.
Try having your home, property, and assets confiscated. Try having yourself and your family deprived of all rights and thrown into a concentration camp for the 'crime' of your blood. Try living behind barbed wire and armed guard towers under the threat of death for a while and then open your fucking mouth about how good you have it.

FDR, America's greatest president according to the American people that lived in his generation, and the greatest president according to America's greatest historians. Got anything else, how about: didn't eat his veggies?

Logical fallacy again.

.... Besides, the Japanese in the internment camps were also being protected from Americans overreacting to Pearl Harbor.

....

I'm sure YOU would welcome such "protection" for no fucking reason. You're full of shit.

Try having your son not come home because he was marched to death by the Japanese.

The innocent people in fdr's concentration camps didn't march anyone to death, you illogical buffoon.

Thousands of Japanese were seen celebrating the Pearl Harbor attacks in NJ

FDR imprisoned innocent American citizens without due process. It's possibly the most flagrant violation of the U.S. Constitution ever. Do lefties want to bring up his diet?

The only thing you can say to justify FDR's executive order authorizing the internment of American citizens without due process is that FDR may have been suffering a mental breakdown in his 3rd term. It didn't even make sense from a security standpoint. Hawaii was a hotbed of Japanese espionage but the Executive Order only applied to Japanese in California. None of the other states were even impacted. It's possible that FDR supporters were eyeing valuable real estate owned by Japanese Americans or the administration had gone insane. FDR had appointed a former KKK member to the Supreme Court and Justice Black paid him back by writing the majority opinion authorizing American concentration camps.
So what you are saying is that he is not that different than any other Democratic president.

No I'm not. Lincoln suspended Habias Corpus during the Civil War but no other president, republican or democrat ever came close to arresting American citizens without due process. FDR was not typical in any way. By his 3rd term he might have been going mad from a series of strokes. His medical records disappeared from a locked vault after his death never to reappear and strangely enough the media at the time wasn't curious and seemed relieved.

The history of the Democratic Party is that of the history of racism, slavery and segregation. Now it is trying to morph into the party of socialism and communism.

All Is Fair in Love and War

Lincoln won his war, so did FDR. Because of crippling legalistic inhibitions not supported by the majority, we've lost most of our wars since.

FDR didn't win the war. He died three months into his 4th term. As a matter of fact FDR created the legacy of the "iron curtain" because of his madness and willingness to befriend Stalin. It's clear that FDR's executive order 9066 did nothing but enrich left coast political supporters.
