75 years ago today FDR's executive order 9066

If FDR decided to incarcerate illegal aliens or ship them back to their countries of origin and it was applied logically throughout the U.S. it would have been an acceptable security measure. It would even have made sense to deport all "legal" aliens who were suspected of unAmerican activities at the time. There is no way in the freaking world that anyone could argue that the incarceration of American citizens without due process was legal or made any sense. Only Justice who was a former KKK member could support such an atrocity. Justice Black and FDR should have been impeached.
Japanese that wanted to return to Japan were given that option and I believe the shipping was done at American expense. Others in the internment camps were free to move from the west coast to another parts of America.

-So if you concentrate people in one camp it can be defined as a concentration camp? How about an army camp, or Boy Scout camp or even a school?

Ask the piece of shit fdr. That's what he called his camps.

The Japanese were interred because they were sneaky and could not be trusted
Blacks were segregated and denied the vote because they had substandard intelligence and did not belong in white society
Jews were restricted socially because they were money grubbers looking to take over
Minorities were segregated because they did not speak the language
Gays? They were afraid to show their face

That was the America of 1942 when FDR issued his order

Wasn't there a movie made called 1941 and its theme was the craziness that went on in that period. I'm sure that some cannot understand America's fear and its attempt to reduce that fear, but the fear was real. Would we do it again, I'm sure we would and will.

FDR said "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself" and with the assistance of the media the world embraced the cliche even if it didn't mean a freaking thing. God help us when pop-culture educated lefties think of a time when the federal government would have the right to arrest and incarcerate American citizens without due process on the basis of fear.

It was a crazy time all around the world
Rights were being trampled on everywhere

It is what they called "keeping us safe"
Kind of like today

How can FDR supporters justify the executive order that authorized the incarceration of American citizens and legal aliens without due process? Has the left gone so far down the angry crazy road that they dare to compare the FDR atrocity to the Trump administration's effort to curtail illegal immigration and keep out jihadists? Like I said, the executive order didn't even make sense. It only applied to Japanese citizens in California and not the rest of the Country and it didn't apply to Hawaii which was a hotbed of Japanese espionage. The only conclusion is that FDR had gone mad or he entered into a depraved agreement with democrat real estate speculators to obtain the personal property and real estate of Japanese citizens at a bargain price.

FDR took the advice of many, military and civilian alike. Had FDR been wrong, and sabotage had occurred, think of the posts the Republicans would be putting on the boards even after all this time, and maybe justifiably? Think about why not Hawaii and why the west coast.

The scumbag fdr knew damn well there was no credible threat when HE ordered HIS concentration camps built.

"Roosevelt's own intelligence network on the West Coast was assuring him that the Japanese-American community was loyal"

"No American of Japanese ancestry was ever convicted of sabotage during the war."
