The only thing being avoided here is the truth. People switch parties all the time. Pretty convenient for the Democrat racists that the only record they keep of it is what they believe migrated from Democrat to Republican in the South.

The civil war political parties bear little to no resemblance to the modern parasitic entities that still bear their namesake. You won't get it because at best it's an urban legend and at worst it was a very limited activity. The Southern Democrats who were virulently racist would have had very little reason to transfer over to the Republican party which was the party that championed the freedom of the slaves. Remember in those days both parties were broken up into many subfractions. It's been a while since I've done the Jim Crow era history but it might be worth taking a look at it again to see exactly what did happen. My guess is that they depend on people not doing the real research so that they can just continue to repeat the vacuous deflection that the racist Democrats migrated over to become the Republicans which then translates into the modern Republican party. It's all complete nonsense. Many of them already know this and just continue to play the word game as they troll and merrily please themselves laughing and giggling at the reaction they get out of people.
