In one year, Mexico’s working poverty rate increased by almost 10 percentage points, from 35.7% to 44.5%. This means that at least 4 out of every 10 people in the country do not have enough money to buy the family basic consumables.

“It is determined as “working poverty” when the salary is not enough to buy the family basics. They are people who have jobs, but it is still a tragedy. No worker who has a job should be poor. It is not enough for them to live on what they earn, it does not mean that they do not eat, because in many cases there are supplements to the income obtained by salary, but it is not enough for them to live on what they earn,” said Jorge Sales Boyoli, a specialist in labor law.

The expert explained that working poverty affects employees in the formal and informal sectors; he also warned that labor informality should set off alarm bells since 56.3% of the population over 15 years of age is in this market, which means that they have no social security or work contract nor benefits.

It's going to take awhile just to get back to where they were. Hell it's going to take awhile for us to get back to where we were.

I'm not sure Canada is much higher to be honest, especially in cities like Toronto and Vancouver where housing costs are criminal.

This was from 2019, BEFORE the pandemic

CALGARY — The number of Canadians who are $200 or less away from financial insolvency at month-end has jumped to 46 per cent, up from 40 per cent in the previous quarter, as interest rates rise according to a new poll.

A survey conducted for insolvency firm MNP Ltd. in December also found that 31 per cent of Canadians say they don’t make enough to cover their bills and debt payments, up seven percentage points from the September poll.

In either case, I am not and so I don't really care.
There in lies the problem- you feel like only you count and no one else does- does the phrase all men are created equal anad have certin unalienable rights mean anything to you? Just curious-

Welll...

1. We are not talking about US citizens. If they want unalienable rights, THEY need to fight for them.

2. THEY could not give two shits about Me, so fuck them. Capice?

There is the high level problem of illegal immigration and then there is the human problem of poverty. The former is a massive problem we have to do better about managing through fortified border patrol, wall additions and reinforcements, drone patrols, as well as improve our LEGAL immigration process. The latter is an immediate problem that is terrible. Poor families are feeling the effects of Covid the worst. There are hard working families that are literally a few weeks away from being on the streets. There is a dry wash a few miles from my house. I have never seen so many tents in it as I do now. It would be a good time to put aside any biases you may have and just help if you can.

This is far from over and will be worse than it was one hundred years ago.

We already have a severe homeless problem that's growing exponentially due to the way the local, state, and federal, governments are handling the problem.

Who's going to lend the United States any money to create jobs for the poor to build roads, dams, and other infrastructure?
