30% tariffs on solar panels

Were Musk and all his businesses to go broke right now, he would have already have made a difference. The EV is a genie that you cannot put back in the bottle. The re-usable rockets are making launches far cheaper. And what difference have you ever made?

They weren't invaders, they were migrants. They only took up arms after the arabs decided they wanted to wipe them out.

Considering it was the Ottomans land first, then the British, there was no local owners in the modern era.

and your sky fairy stuff get tired after a certain amount of time.

Naw, man, I never get tired of pointing out how silly it is to do things to please an imaginary fairy in the sky.

But to the point. The Ottomans and British were invaders. They had no business giving away anyone's land. The Zionists were invaders, because they were subsidized by the British to colonize the place for them. (After two world wars, they were running out of white people!)

they were subsidized by the British to colonize the place for them.

Which explains why Jewish immigration to Palestine was severely restricted during the years of the British Mandate.

The Ottomans didn't have a say in the matter, and your whole line of argument is like the Ideal Gas Law in how it ignores how the real world works.

You mean that's why they dumped them all there, but most of them didn't want to go until Hitler started turning them into lampshades. Then a whole bunch of them showed up.

"Looks, here's someone we can beat up, because the British spent 40 years beating them down for us."

The Ottomans didn't dispossess the Arabs of their land. The British and Zionists did.

The Ottomans just ruled over them far more brutally than the British or Israelis ever did.

The local Arabs wouldn't share, the other Arabs saw easy meat in 1948 and they got their asses kicked. Too bad, so sad.

The price of solar panels has dropped so much it actually makes no difference.

And yet...without government subsidies, the math STILL does not work. My mother has a solar system...and without the subsidies, the payoff was never. (The expected life of the system was shorter than the payoff.)
She shouldn't have installed them. Most of those installed in the past were expensive and it usually takes more than 15 years to pay for them and then recover the money you're supposed to have's "saved". Mathematically it doesn't make sense.

Why didn't Obama think of this? His solar energy cronnies are going to make millions. Trump is out Obamaing Obama.
Obama's theme was the same as Democrat party's... "America Last".

It is no different than giving government gauranteed loans to Solyndra. Obama is kicking himself right now.

Yeah, fuck those brown people trying to stop white people from Europe from taking their stuff!!!

Some of those Israelis are more brown than the local arabs.

Joehammad never lets the facts get in the way.

Elon Musk. The man is smart enough to put together a research team and come up with a cheaper way of making very efficient solar panels, and integrate those into his business model as well as sell them on the open market.

Lol so he is going to build a plant in America and what's going to happen when we get a Democrat president and he removes the tariffs and Asia starts dumping again?

Liar. The guarantee on most systems are that at 25 years old, the system will still be producing more than 80% of the original power.

What Is the Average Payback Period of a Solar Installation? | Direct Energy Solar

Because each installation and customer is different, no two payback periods are exactly the same. But we can still speak in averages. A state like California, for example, offers average payback periods of about 9 years. It takes as little as 7 years to recoup all upfront costs in New Jersey. Again, your payback period may be higher or lower depending on the specific circumstances surrounding your solar installation.

In both of the above examples, the financial returns exceed the S&P Index’s historic 9.9% rate. Unlike Wall Street, however, going solar is essentially a risk-free investment.

And here’s why:

  • As grid electricity rates continue to rise with time, the payback period of your solar installation becomes shorter – and the ROI of your system becomes higher. No matter what your local utility company chooses to charge in the future, the sun will remain the same price forever (i.e. free).
  • After reaching the payback period, you enjoy decades of free electricity for the remaining lifetime of your solar installation (most systems come with a standard 25-year warranty, but many PV installations last 40 years or longer).
