Poker is great. I played a lot way way back but moved around and lost all players.
Yes I made a bunch of small bets. Ended up down....but mostly from the "Juice" as I think I won at least 1/2 of bets or one more than half?
If you bet 10 $10 bets and win 5 of them you will not be ahead (as you know). You will be down at least $5 from that seesion due to the -110 factor. Sometimes it moves around.

Braves won 100 now. BALT is best in the AL ~95 wins. They are the #1 seed I would think. But WC teams seem to win it all as often as any #1 seed for a long time now?

I have a hard time going against any underdog like MIL. In football you can bet over/under and not be biased as much. I always want the little guys to win. I despise the big markets signing all the big names (unlimited budget). MIL BALT would be good.

The last time I read, it seems like the professional sports gamblers have a win rate of around 72%. So unless one is betting very high amounts and winning at least 60% of the time it’s tough to come out ahead when it comes to sports betting.

I think Baltimore is going to have 100 wins this season. Let’s see what happens in the postseason though. They’re gonna have a tough time in the AL with the Rangers and the Astros but if they can hold onto their division, they will have the crucial home-field advantage.

2 years ago the rangers lost 102 games.....some good turn arounds....

Toss in the Mariners with their 116 win season several years ago. I think Lou Piniella may have been managing them then. Didn’t even make the World Series. This year’s Mariners have hit a slump at a bad time. Losing 10 of 15. But they have 3 with Houston and finish with 4 against Texas. So there will be some true drama for both the wild card and the AL West Title the final week.

Wow had no idea the mariners won thst many games back then,never knew they ever won thst many games,first I ever heard of a team winning so many games in a season like thst and not even making it to the series’s,that’s unheard of.

A young team that could go either way. The postseason is tougher. Obviously Houston and Tampa Bay have experience in the playoffs. The Orioles will have a bye and home field (big for a young team) throughout at least the AL playoffs. We’ll find out if they can handle the extra press coverage and the other extras that comes at playoff time.

As I said earlier on the thread I really badly want them to go to the series but my second choice if they don’t make it from the AL is tampa I like them as well sense both are small market teams and I root for the little guy so either one I will be happy with,just as long as it is not those asswipes the Astros.they have replaced the Yankees as the team that has ruined baseball.I’m so sick of them,they disgrace the game of baseball same as the patriots have in football during the belicheck brady era.

When it comes to sports betting, it’s all about having fun at least for me , trying to win and most important betting what you could afford. A true professional gambler would tell you or anyone to never bet any kind of a sizable percentage of your entire bankroll. Even if you are a successful bettor.

Yes, I also hope that we don’t have a collapse of society here in America. Certainly many of the Democrats Biden and Harris are horrible for the country. I’ve lost close friends because I choose not to let them call me a racist with no evidence to back it up. And why would I associate myself with some of these people who are now supporters of a radical LGBT agenda, when they were never like this just a few years ago. Two of these guys are stay at home dad’s(one doesn’t work and brags about it) the other a weed dealer, and I told myself I don’t wanna surround myself with that kind of thing.

I have my Poker friends some of them I’ve known for over 15 years … these guys are pretty cool. Most of them are Trump supporters but the guys were Democrats are over 80 years old and cool to be around with

I’m more of a poker player. I take Poker very seriously and I am definitely not any kind of a superstar, but I try and win what I can. I’ve had three productive winning years in a row.

As for sports betting. I’m only up a little bit, possibly breaking even this year on FanDuel and DraftKings. The World Series will possibly change that and I’m very hopeful for the Orioles, and perhaps some NL wildcard teams to make it. Although you do not do futures, you should consider it because it’s basically like the stock market you place your bet and you see how things go over the year. Yes you don’t have immediate action on the game but it does make the games all the more interesting. It also saves you from possibly losing a lot if you’re betting every game and mostly losing. I do occasionally bet single games and I’m basically even on them this year.

The thing with future betting is you can place a 25 or $50 bet on a team that is somewhat of a longshot. You can use a profit boost on FanDuel and you have a lot to play for. You can sell your bet at some point in the year if you want to. That’s why I usually divide my future bets into multiple that’s on each team.

FanDuel and DraftKings became legal here in New York State sometime around two years ago I believe. So it’s relatively new here…. As far as I know, it was illegal in most states in the country just six years ago even.

You can also hedge against your future bets. It’s always a great situation if your team makes the Championship in a sport like the NBA, NHL or MLB, and then they get up two or three games to nothing ie up 3-0 you can then hedge on the other team for the next four games and you will come out ahead had no matter what.

I think if I am smart, I will put a big bet on the Dodgers or braves to win the World Series before the playoffs but who knows if I will…. Anything can happen in the playoffs and both of those teams might not even make the final four. I’m already invested into the baseball playoffs, and the idea of putting more money down means there’s more to lose. The LA Dodgers were six to one to win it all just a few days ago now they are four to one.

I quit playing casino poker, as all the money ends up inside the table....Last time I played, everyone at the table was a good experienced player....The winning pots were pretty much going to every player at one point or another, yet everyone was still buying more chips.

Unless you're red hot, there's really no money in hold 'em....The only good game is stud, which is an endangered species because of teevee hold 'em games.

I always avoided it. I have sat commuting or at a desk too much over decades. I am lucky my jobs have involved both MFG sites & Engineering, back and forth often so Iam not stuck in one spot. It tears up your hips. I could not see sitting more hours to lose $50/hr or whatever paying the house for the right to try. I golfed instead when not working but I was lousy and the hot sun just wears you out. It can be painfully slow at peak hours also.

Chinese buddy told me don’t bother. $200 buy in can be gone in 15min up at Bay101 club on 101.

The time off for a BYE team has seemingly helped WC teams more than the team sitting around IMVHO.

maybe that changes since WC is best of three now? I always thought it should be 2 of 3. One win can be a fluke or bad call.

Looks like the NL wildcard teams will be the Phillies, Marlins and Diamondbacks. And good work by the Miami Marlins. They’re comfortably ahead of the cubs as they have another game to make up where they were winning to the one in the ninth inning in New York City, and it down poured rain suspended the game. One interesting thing about the wildcard format is that all 3 games would be played at the team with a higher seed. The five and six seed in each league gets home advantage for the wildcard. That’s pretty interesting. Arguably the lower seed should have at least one home game..

The Reds have a shot at the playoffs. The Houston Astros are playing to Win, and their last two games of the year are against the Diamondbacks. So if the Diamondbacks lose their last 2 the Reds win their last 2 the reds are in. The Reds hold the tiebreaker over the other wildcard teams.

I lived my whole life glued to MLB on TV, buried in box scores, at games….but mostly beer and TV after work. Glued to playoff games. Living out in CA but not an SF fan. Was a STL fan.

the most remarkable stretch of Baseball was SF winning 3 of 5 WS. Down 2-0, yet beat CIN, Posey grand slam…crowd dead silent. CIN great BBall town, they knew it was over.. Down 3-1 many times it seemed yet shut STL down and moved thru it.

I saw about every pitch. Bochy….masterpiece. What Rhigetti? Did with that pitching staff was hall of fame worthy. Lincecum Cy Young At 150 lbs. Posey! Crawford? Most of the team ordinary. But Bumgartner Vs. KC. Ends on an almost inside the park HR to win it all.

I feel safe in MLB threads. But I am only lousy touch type. Im glad you others are here!

Bumgarner had his greatest years with the Giants. I don’t know what happened to him.. he’s kind of struggling now.

Bouchy is doing a fine job now managing the Rangers.

After all those years with Barry bonds on the Giants, they don’t get a World Series but just as you said, they get three out of five championships in a five year run without him
