The storied 2017-2018 Philadelphia Eagles (NFL) season saw an incredible phenom-QB (Carson Wentz) lead the well-choreographed team to NFC dominance before being sidelined by an injury, requiring inspired backup-QB (Nick Foles) to carry the still-coordinated (and amazing) team to close out the season in good fashion, fly through the playoffs, and then surprisingly defeat the seemingly-indomitable New England Patriots (led by the Goliath-like QB Tom Brady) in Super Bowl 52.

Many consider it the greatest underdog story in NFL history (especially Philly fans!).

In fact, Super Bowl 52 generated some exciting Philadelphia-area fanfare and even sports-related market-merchandising, and Philly fans were saying, "Philadelphia Cream Cheese will challenge New England Clam Chowder!"

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady was hunting for his unprecedented 6th Super Bowl title(!) but failed. It was quite a good 'Jerry Maguire compatible-show.'

The Eagles jumped out to a very impressive 10-1 record (having just lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 2) and became a #1 team in NFL Power-Rankings (just two-stepping Brady's Patriots!). The Eagles then lost to the Seahawks in Week 13 but bounced back to defeat the tough L.A. Rams in Week 14 (43-35) with a come-from-behind victory by backup-QB Nick Foles who took over after Wentz was out with a season-ending 3rd period injury (torn-ACL).

Foles then carried the team past the Giants and Raiders and only suffered a strange low-scoring loss to the Dallas Cowboys (6-0) in Week 16. Foles helped the Eagles engineer victories over the Atlanta Falcons and Minnesota Vikings in the playoffs before downing Brady's Patriots in Super Bowl 52 (41-33). This victory was made 'intriguing' by a controversial end-zone bobbled-catch by Eagles tight-end Zach Ertz.

Whatever Season 53 (2018-2019) brings for the always-diligent Philadelphia Eagles, their first franchise Super Bowl trophy in 2018 will be remembered as an 'underdog triumph' for the ages (for all Philly fans).

During the 2017-2018 NFL Season, the Eagles pulled out two very tight victories over Eli Manning's NY Giants (27-24, 34-29). The Giants are the only other team to have defeated Brady's Patriots in the Super Bowl (Manning did it twice).

So, let the free-agency drama begin...will Kirk Cousins be the new NY Jets QB?
