Great news? Now everyone above them making no more or only a little more doing highly skilled work requiring an education will want a great deal more too. Many jobs will be lost to automation, the state will go into even deeper debt and the cost of living will skyrocket even farther.

California is fucked. Any state that needs to pay someone $20/hr just to do menial labor meant for transient high-school workers is a failed state. And in a few years when the cost of living there further skyrockets from this, $20 won't pay for shit and they will be right back where they started, I mean, those who still have jobs not replaced by robots.
